Job summary

NZAB is seeking compassionate Healthcare Assistants to join our teams across sites in Upper Hutt. You’ll support residents to live with comfort, dignity, and independence, delivering person-centred care in a safe, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Caregiver or similar care role.
• A compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to caring for older adults.
• Clear communication skills and a strong team-focused mindset.
• A commitment to safety, dignity, and resident-centred care.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, that may include weekends and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care in a way that maintains dignity, privacy, and comfort.
• Support residents with daily activities such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and hydration.
• Observe and respond to residents’ physical and emotional needs, escalating concerns appropriately.
• Build warm, respectful relationships with residents and their families/whānau.
• Create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that promotes wellbeing and independence.
• Follow individual care plans and work closely with Registered Nurses to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families, and your wider team.
