The Commercial Finance Manager serves as a strategic finance business partner responsible for driving profitable growth, maximizing commercial returns, and supporting enterprise decision-making. This role provides financial leadership across revenue growth, gross margin optimization, pricing strategy, promotions, inventory management, investment evaluation, and operational performance.
Working closely with the leadership team, the Commercial Finance Manager translates financial insights into actionable business strategies, challenges decision-making through fact-based analysis, and ensures commercial initiatives deliver sustainable value and return on investment.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
1. Commercial Business Partnering
- Act as the primary finance partner to commercial and operational leaders.
- Influence strategic and tactical decisions through robust financial analysis and commercial insights.
- Challenge assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and improve business outcomes.
- Support annual strategic planning and long-term growth initiatives.
- Drive a culture of accountability, performance, and value creation across the organization.
2. Revenue & Margin Management
- Lead financial analysis of sales, gross margin, pricing, and promotional effectiveness.
- Partner with commercial teams to optimize pricing architecture and promotional investment decisions.
- Analyze category, product, customer, and channel profitability.
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue quality, margin expansion, and return on commercial investments.
- Provide recommendations to improve overall commercial performance and profitability.
- Analyze customer, category, and channel performance.
- Support trading reviews and action planning.
- Recommend corrective actions where required.
- Drive inventory productivity and working capital performance.
- Evaluate inventory investments, stock positioning, and replenishment strategies.
- Monitor inventory turns, stock aging, markdown effectiveness, and obsolescence risks.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Operations teams to optimize inventory levels while balancing availability and profitability.
- Support initiatives that improve cash conversion and working capital efficiency.
5. Investment Analysis & Business Cases
- Evaluate commercial initiatives and growth projects.
- Develop business cases and return on investment (ROI) assessments.
- Assess risks and financial returns.
6. Cost & Productivity Management
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities.
- Support productivity improvement programs.
- Measure benefits realization from initiatives.
7. Performance Analytics
- Develop commercial KPIs and dashboards.
- Perform variance analysis and trend reporting.
- Deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
8. Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Support strategic projects and transformation programs.
- Build strong relationships across business functions.

Job Specifications
Work Experience
- 8-12 years of progressive FP&A, Commercial Finance, or Finance Business Partnering experience.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling expertise.
- Experience supporting executive leadership teams.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CA, CMA, CFA, or MBA is preferred.
- Experience within Retail, FMCG, Consumer Goods, Multi-site Operations, eCommerce, or High‑Growth business environments is highly desirable.
