Job summary

ING Hubs Philippines is seeking a Cloud Data Test Engineer to ensure the quality of cloud-based data solutions. You will perform hands-on data testing, validate data pipelines, and verify data formats across Azure or other clouds, with emphasis on end-to-end data accuracy.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in software testing in data space, strong SQL, Python, and hands-on Azure Synapse experience, plus familiarity with ETL testing, data profiling, and regression testing.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in SQL.
• Working knowledge of structured file formats (CSV, JSON, XML, Avro, Parquet).
• Proven Python coding skills.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Workspace (Pipelines, Spark Notebooks, PySpark).
• Understanding and hands-on experience in Data Analysis, Profiling, Data Quality and Regression testing.
• Hands-on Test Automation experience (Data or Other).
• Ability to work independently with no supervision.
• Strong knowledge of ETL/Data Warehouse testing.
• Exposure to Kafka.
• Ability to plan and execute QA activities across the SDLC and test strategy.
• Experience in creating test plans and test strategies.
• Ability to navigate ETL tools and troubleshoot ETL code.
• Experience in programming languages (C#, Java, Python) is an advantage.
• Experience in testing front end/middleware applications is an advantage.
• Ability to collaborate with onshore/offshore teams and stakeholders.
• Excellent team player.
• Ability to learn complex business systems quickly.
• Active contribution to testing practice initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on software testing in the data space, ensuring data quality and reliability.
• Validate data pipelines and data formats across cloud environments; ensure end-to-end data accuracy.
• Collaborate with onshore/offshore teams and business stakeholders to define test plans and acceptance criteria.
• Contribute to test strategy, plans, and automation initiatives throughout the SDLC.
• Troubleshoot ETL issues and navigate ETL tools to understand and fix code.

Job Overview

We're seeking a Cloud Data Test Engineer proficient in testing cloud-based data solutions, with a strong background in Data testing. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience ensuring the quality and reliability of data pipelines, structured data formats and able demonstrate expertise in end-to-end data validation within complex cloud environments.

Key Capabilities/Experience

• Minimum 8 years of industry experience performing hands on software testing, predominantly in data space


• Hands on experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud platform or any other cloud platform

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in SQL


• Working knowledge of structured file formats.(CSV, JSON, XML, Avro, Parquet files, etc.)


• Proven python coding skills ( or similar)


• Working knowledge of Azure Synapse Workspace, such as Pipelines and Spark Notebooks, Pysparks.


• Understanding and hands on experience in Data Analysis and Profiling, Data Accuracy, Data Transformation, Data Completeness, Data Quality and Regression testing


• Hands on Test Automation experience ( Data or Other)


• Ability to work independently with no supervision


• Strong knowledge on ETL\\Data warehouse testing and concepts


• Exposure to event streaming solutions such as Kafka


• Ability to plan and execute quality assurance activities throughout the development life cycle conforming to test strategy and best practices


• Experience in creating test plans, test strategies


• Ability to navigate through ETL tools and understand ETL code when required to troubleshoot issues.


• Experience in any programming languages is an advantage (e.g. C#, Java, Python, etc.)


• Experience in testing front end / middleware applications is an advantage.


• Ability to work collaboratively with onshore/offshore teams and interact confidently with business stakeholders.
