Job summary

MicroSourcing is seeking a Civil Estimator in Parañaque with strong civil estimating experience. You will develop detailed cost estimates and tender packages for earthworks, concrete, drainage, and related disciplines, while reviewing designs and site conditions to ensure accurate quantities.

You will manage RFIs, gather quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, and forward value-engineering options to improve bid competitiveness.

Qualifications

• Tertiary Civil Engineering qualification (degree) required.
• Proven civil estimating experience with tender submissions and cost schedules.
• Ability to interpret civil drawings, earthworks models, geotechnical reports, and specs.
• Advanced MS Excel skills for cost modeling and BOQ forecasting.
• Experience drafting and evaluating RFIs, clarifications, and supplier quotes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed civil estimates and tender packages with cost breakdowns for earthworks, concrete, drainage, labor, plant/equipment, subcontracts, and schedules.
• Review designs, site plans, geotechnical reports and specs to determine scope, quantities and site conditions.
• Issue RFIs, solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, evaluate bids against baselines.
• Identify risks and propose value-engineering and cost-reduction options for competitive bids.
• Compile forecast cost reports and perform commercial analyses to support pre-contract targets.
• Mentor junior estimators and standardize civil estimating templates and workflows.

Your Role

As an Civil Estimator, you will:

• Tender & Cost Estimate Preparation: Develop detailed civil estimates and tender packages, incorporating comprehensive cost breakdowns for bulk earthworks, concrete, drainage, labor, plant/equipment, subcontracts, and project schedules.
• Technical Document & Drawing Analysis: Review civil engineering designs, site plans, geotechnical reports, and construction specifications to evaluate scope requirements, quantities, and site conditions.
• Subcontractor & Supplier Quote Evaluation: Issue Requests for Information (RFIs), solicit quotes from civil subcontractors and material suppliers, and evaluate bids against self-perform cost baselines.
• Risk Management & Value Engineering: Identify contractual and site-related risks, conduct value-engineering assessments, and recommend cost-reduction options for competitive bid packages.
• Financial Reporting & Forecasting: Compile forecast cost reports, track estimating budgets, and deliver commercial analyses to ensure compliance with pre-contract obligations and margin targets.
• Team Mentorship & Process Improvement: Provide technical guidance to junior estimators, standardize civil estimating templates, and optimize bidding workflows.

What You Need

Non-negotiables

• Tertiary Civil Engineering Qualification: Tertiary degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
• Civil Estimating Experience: Proven track record preparing tender submissions, compilation of first-principles cost estimates, and schedules for civil construction projects.
• Contractual & Civil Drawing Interpretation: Advanced capability to interpret civil engineering blueprints, earthworks models, structural drawings, geotechnical reports, and contract terms.
• Advanced MS Excel Skills: High proficiency in MS Excel for complex cost modeling, bill of quantities (BOQ) compilation, and financial forecasting.
• RFI & Commercial Communication: Demonstrated experience drafting, issuing, and evaluating RFIs, clarifications, and commercial quotes with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Preferred Skills/expertise

• Prior experience in heavy civil, earthworks, mining infrastructure, or multi-site construction sectors.
• Exposure to specialized civil estimating software (e.g., FirstBench, Cubit, Expert Estimation, Candy, or Benchmark Estimating).
• Postgraduate qualifications in engineering management, quantity surveying, or business administration.
