Job summary

SM Development Corporation is seeking a Civil Engineering professional to assist the AVP and Engineering Design Manager in reviewing civil and structural designs from external consultants, and to participate in value engineering and cost-saving discussions before project implementation.

The candidate must hold a Civil Engineering degree with PRC license, and bring at least five years of experience in design engineering or related roles.

Qualifications

• Must be a Civil Engineering graduate with PRC license.
• At least five years of extensive work experience in design engineering or asst. design roles.
• Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint; ability to present to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Review civil and structural designs from external consultants and note design changes.
• Identify value engineering and cost-saving items prior to project implementation.
• Review and evaluate design parameters proposed by external consultants; ensure action items are closed.
• Review MEPFS & CS designs and ensure adequacy, accuracy and compliance to codes.
• Monitor deliverables timelines and communicate with external consultants when deadlines are at risk.
• Conduct visual site inspections for structural engineering audits and prepare audit reports.
• Perform trainings requested by Tool Box/Training Academy and supervise the Design Production Team if needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Assist the AVP and/or the corresponding Engineering Design Manager in the review of Civil and Structural coming from external design consultants and take note and consider design changes propose by project stakeholders involved in the project prior to project implementation.
• 2. Participate on meetings and discussions in identifying potential value engineering and cost saving items prior to implementation of the projects.
• 3. Assist the AVP and/or the corresponding Engineering Design Manager in the review and evaluation of design parameters proposed by the external design consultants. Ensure that all action items from the evaluation is properly executed and closed.
• 4. Assists the AVP and/or the corresponding Engineering Design Manager in the review of the MEPFS & CS engineering designs and layouts, systems and other engineering drawings, reports and specifications submitted by the external design consultants at each stage of the Design Management Stage to ensure adequacy, accuracy and compliance to applicable codes and legal requirements as specified in the scope of work and contract agreement. Ensure that all action items from the evaluation is properly executed and closed.
• 5. Assist the AVP and/or the corresponding engineering Design Manager in monitoring the timelines of deliverables of the external design consultants. Provide necessary action and communication to the external design consultant whenever attainment of deliverables are compromised.
• 6. Assist the AVP and/or the corresponding engineering Design Manager on the actual visual site inspection for Structural Engineering Audit of SM Residences and other related projects throughout Philippines, and the preparation of Audit Reports including the Presentation Materials.
• 7. Able to perform and conduct trainings requested by the Tool Box / Training Academy of Planning and Engineering and Project Development Departments respectively.
• 8. Able to supervise the PD – Design Production Team under EDMR (Civil and Structural) if needed and necessary as per directive of the AVP
• 9. Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• 1. Must be a graduate of Civil Engineering (for Civil and Structural Assistant Design Manager) from a reputable college or university
• 2. Board exam passer with a valid PRC license
• 3. Preferably with at least five (3) years of extensive work experience as Design Engineer / Asst. Design Manager / Asst. Engineering Design Manager, and a total of 5 years (minimum) work experience from a reputable property developer, real estate, contractor or consulting firm
• 4. Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
• 5. Good leadership, communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills
• 6. Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
• 7. Advanced Level in any related electrical engineering software such as MEP, Revit, etc.
• 8. Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders
• 9. Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• 10. Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
