Job summary

National Grid Corporation is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to lead detailed engineering design of transmission line civil works, ensuring compliance with NGCP and international standards, and providing technical solutions through data-driven analysis.

You will oversee route assessments, prepare conceptual and detailed designs, coordinate with site teams, review specifications, and contribute to bid documentation and design guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Licensed Civil Engineer.
• 4 years relevant experience in transmission line design.
• Advanced knowledge of civil design standards for transmission lines.
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary design teams and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed engineering design of civil works for transmission line projects and provide technical assistance with solutions in compliance with NGCP, Philippine standards and international norms.
• Participate in route selection and conceptual design during planning stages.
• Conduct site inspections and gather field data for design.
• Prepare technical specifications, bid price schedules, and quantities take-off; review manufacturer's drawings.

Responsiblefor performing engineering and detail design of transmission line project byapplying intensive and diversified knowledge of transmission line design andpractices in a safe, effective, efficient, and economic accomplishment of theassigned task s

Principal duties and responsibilities:

• In charge of performing detailedengineering design of Civil Works for Transmission Line Projects and providetechnical assistance through proactive identification of special solutions,methods, and/or studies that are in compliance with NGCP, Philippine, and otherrelevant International Standard.
• Participates in route selection process ofvarious transmission line projects.
• Prepares conceptual design of transmissionline projects during planning stage.
• Conducts actual site inspections andgathers field data necessary for the design of transmission line structures.
• Requests/Confirms and checks availabilityof geological/geotechnical report and topographic survey and other data neededfor design.
• Prepares and checks the detail design ofvarious structures of transmission line projects, including among others thefollowing: tower/pole loading diagrams and calculations; tower/polefoundations, slope protection works for foundations
• Prepares Technical Specifications coveringthe civil works portion of the project.
• Prepares Bid Price Schedule and quantitytake-off calculations.
• Checks Manufacturer’s specifications,drawings & calculation sheets.
• Prepares Eligibility Document Requirementsfor bidding, if applicable.
• Collaborates with the transmission linesection head in assessing technical problems with the construction and/oroperation and recommends solutions to such problems.
• Assists in preparing and developing designstandards and guidelines.
• Attend technical meetings, seminars,conventions when assigned.
• Witnesses’ factory acceptance tests orpre-shipment inspections when assigned.
• Prepares design memoranda, executivebriefs, reports, and other official correspondences in relation to workassignments.
• Conducts research activities to keep abreast oftechnological developments.
• Participates in various taskforce/fact-finding team and offers technical assistance relevant tocivil/structural design scope of works.
• Performs technicalassistance to other functional groups (O&M, SO & PAMGS. Etc).
• Makes decision onDesign issues that are within the protocols of his scope of work.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
• Licensed Civil Engineer
• 4 years relevantexperience in transmission line design
• Has advanced knowledge and skills in the application of theories, standards, practices and concepts in the field of Civil design for TL
• Able to recommend/propose design solutions and evaluate alternative involving TL issues and concerns.
• Possesses leadership ability to handle or lead multi-disciplinary Design Team.
• Possesses good verbal and written communication skills to handle presentation, preparation and review of technical documents and reports and various correspondences.
• Has advanced knowledge in CAD software (i.e., AutoCAD, Civil3D, etc) and/or Staadpro, Microsoft, other structural software.
