Job Description
Prepare conceptual and detailed designs for transmission line projects, including:
- Plan and profile drawings.
- Tower spotting and conductor sag-tension analysis.
- Structure design and selection.
- Use line design software to perform mechanical loading analysis and conductor clearances.
- Conduct route surveys and review geotechnical reports for foundation recommendations.
- Generate material take-offs (MTO), bill of quantities (BOQ), and design reports.
- Support the preparation of technical specifications and datasheets for line components (conductors, insulators, hardware, etc.).
- Coordinate with Civil, and Electrical Design teams for alignment and interface management.
- Review vendor and contractor submissions for technical compliance.
- Ensure all designs meet applicable standards (e.g., NESC, ASCE, IEEE, IEC, or local utility codes).
- Support construction and commissioning phases by providing technical clarifications or design revisions.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
- Licensed Engineer (preferred)
- 1–5 years of experience in transmission line design or related field.
- Familiarity with substation and grid interconnection projects is a plus.
- Knowledge of transmission line components (towers, conductors, insulators, dampers, grounding, etc.).
- Understanding of:
- Line loading criteria and wind/ice loading.
- Conductor tension, sag, and clearance calculations.
- Right-of-way requirements and constraints.
- Ability to read and interpret Topographic maps, survey data, and geotechnical report and Structural and civil engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in various design software.
