Job summary

Veta Virtual is seeking a CISO/VP Data Security to own the full cybersecurity program for a fintech/crypto client. This senior role reports to leadership and drives policy, regulatory readiness, and incident response across the organization.

You will supervise all cybersecurity activities, engage with regulators, and lead risk management, vendor oversight, and control implementation. A strong cloud, DevOps, and data-security background is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of cybersecurity experience and ownership of a security program.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (master's preferred).
• Experience with security, DevOps, and incident response teams.
• Experience in regulated industries and working with regulators.
• Direct consumer experience preferred.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud systems.
• Familiarity with container systems (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Python, Golang, or similar languages.
• Experience with data warehousing and data analysis.
• Comfort with using AI tools to support research and reporting.
• Bonus: cryptocurrency and blockchain knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead the cybersecurity program across the company to ensure policy and regulatory readiness.
• Define and implement security controls across systems and offices.
• Engage with regulators during audits and ongoing reviews.
• Review and approve cybersecurity policies and procedures.
• Identify vulnerabilities and threats; monitor security and continuity practices.

Veta Virtual is hiring a CISO/VP Data Security for one of our high growth clients in the fintech and cryptocurrency industry. This is not a hands on technical support role. This is a senior, high visibility position for someone who can own a company's entire cybersecurity program, from policy and regulatory readiness to vendor risk and incident response, and report directly to leadership.

Your Role

As CISO/VP Data Security, you will supervise all cybersecurity matters across the company in line with cybersecurity laws, industry best practices, and state regulatory rules. You will make sure every part of the cybersecurity program stays current and compliant, choose the right controls for the company's technology and threat environment, and lead the defense strategy behind them. Your day to day will involve:

• Partnering with operations and engineering teams to make sure every solution is built with the right security considerations from the start.
• Providing strategic cybersecurity guidance and shaping major business decisions through a security lens.
• Serving as the main point of contact with regulators during audits and throughout the year for all cybersecurity matters.
• Reviewing and approving cybersecurity policies, procedures, and written supervisory procedures.
• Continuously identifying and documenting asset vulnerabilities and internal and external threats, and auditing critical security and continuity practices.
• Leading the selection, implementation, and monitoring of cybersecurity controls across the company's systems, including communications, physical offices, encryption, and remote customer access.
• Driving adherence to cybersecurity measures and standards across the organization.
• Reviewing the cybersecurity policy every year, updating it as needed, and keeping a clear record of every review, action taken, system analyzed, and report produced.
• Overseeing risk from third party vendors and system dependencies.
• Reporting regularly to leadership on the health and status of the cybersecurity program.

What You'll Need

• 10 or more years of experience in cybersecurity, including direct ownership of a security program.
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
• Extensive experience working with security, DevOps, and incident response teams.
• Experience working in a highly regulated industry and working directly with regulators.
• Direct to consumer experience preferred.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud systems.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container based systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Golang, or a similar dynamic programming language.
• Experience with data warehousing and data analysis.
• Comfort and proficiency using AI tools to support research, reporting, and daily productivity is a strong plus.
• Bonus: basic knowledge of cryptocurrency and blockchain.
• Bonus: genuine passion for fintech and cryptocurrency.
• To be considered for this role, you must currently be based in Latin America (LATAM) or Europe.
