Job summary

Dole is seeking a Junior Chemical Technician to assist chemists in physicochemical analyses and method validation in the Research and Development Laboratory.

Ideal candidates hold a BSc in Environmental Engineering Technology and have at least 3 years of hands-on lab experience, with skills in waste water treatment, data analysis, and safety compliance. Onsite role with relocation to Polomolok, South Cotabato may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering Technology graduate.
• At least 3 years hands-on experience in a chemical laboratory setting.
• Computer literate and knowledgeable in wastewater treatment.
• Licensure / Certification: Licensed Chemical Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist chemists in analyses and method validation under the Research and Development Laboratory Section.
• Prepare standard solutions for calibration and reagents for sample preparation.
• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Validate and verify methods against international standards.
• Ensure test results reliability using CRMs, QC and PT samples.

Job Summary

Junior Chemical Technicians are responsible in assisting Junior and Senior Chemists in performing various physicochemical analyses and on method validation and/or verification.

DUTIES & REPSONSIBILITIES:

• Assists in laboratory works under the Research and Development Laboratory Section.


• Perform analysis and method validation of the different analytes in Papaya Seed Oil, Bromelain, and Pineapple Peel Extract such as Bromelain (GDU and CDU), %FFA (as oleic acid), Acid Value (as oleic acid), and Peroxide Value using Titrimetric Method, Protein Assay of DSI powdered finished product using Bradford Protein Assay, and Determination of micro and macro elements of DSI finished product.


• Perform the following quantitative analysis of special ingredients (bromelain, papaya seed oil, and pineapple peel extract) from DSI: (Crude fat analysis using Soxhlet extraction, Free fatty acids (FFA) by Titration, Crude protein analysis using Kjehldahl method, Acid value by TitrationPeroxide value by Titration, Saponification value by Titration, Unsaponifiable Matter by Titration, Specific Gravity using Densitometer, Refractive Index using Refractometer, Enzymatic Activity Assay using Titration and Spectrophotometry, Accelerated Shelf-life Testing, FTIR Assay)


• Prepare standard solutions for calibration.


• Prepare chemicals and reagents for sample preparation.


• Validation and verification of new and existing methods of analysis and alignment of these methods with international standards.


• Ensure reliability of test results by testing certified reference materials (CRMs), QC samples, PT samples, and spiking some samples then calculating the recoveries.


• Report analysis certificates for the tests conducted.


• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment in good working condition.


• Monitor the availability of consumables on various analyses performed.


• Provide analytical data on QA in analysis crucial to quality and helpful to launching special projects.


• Complies with the Code of Ethics, chemical and microbiological safety, good laboratory practices, and corporate policies and procedures.


• Actively participates in various cross functional team.


• Notifies the section head on the progress, needs, problems and potential problems of the assigned activities.


• Ensures that safety practices are implemented during analyses, chemicals are handled according to MSDS, and chemicals are labelled and stored according to GHS.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering Technology


• With at least three years (3) hands-on experience in a Chemical Laboratory Setting.
