Role Description

The Cement Carrier Crew Member plays a key role in the safe and efficient operation of cement carrier vessels, ensuring the proper handling and transport of cargo. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Metro Manila, involving regular collaboration with the vessel’s crew and shore-based teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with loading and unloading cement cargo, monitoring cargo handling equipment, and following standard operating procedures to prevent spills, losses, and safety incidents. The role also includes performing routine checks on deck and cargo systems, supporting basic maintenance tasks, and adhering to health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations. Crew Members are expected to participate in drills and training activities, maintain accurate records as required, and contribute to a positive, respectful, and compliant working environment on board.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working on cargo vessels, preferably bulk or cement carriers, and familiarity with shipboard operations and safety practices.
• Knowledge of basic cargo handling procedures, including safe loading and unloading, securing cargo, and monitoring equipment during operations.
• Ability to follow maritime safety standards, including use of personal protective equipment, participation in safety drills, and adherence to company policies.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks on deck, including working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multi-national crews and follow instructions from senior officers.
• Basic problem-solving skills and attention to detail when observing equipment, identifying irregularities, and reporting issues promptly.
• Valid seafarer documentation and certifications as required by local regulations and international maritime standards (e.g., Basic Safety Training, medical fitness.
