Job summary

Vee Healthtek is hiring a CDI Team Leader/Trainer to guide a Manila-based CDI team. You will oversee daily operations, coach staff, and ensure accurate documentation and coding in line with AHIMA/ACDIS standards. The role requires collaboration with US CDI leadership and cross-functional teams.

You will supervise performance reviews, monitor queues and SLAs, and lead onboarding and skills development. Night shifts may apply with on-site or hybrid work arrangements in the Philippines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years CDI experience in US healthcare or BPO/KPO setting.
• At least 2–3 years in supervisory or senior CDI role.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG optimization.
• Experience with CDI software platforms listed above.

Responsibilities

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; weekend coverage may be required based on client needs

Your Impact

As a CDI Team Leader, you will guide a Manila-based team that improves the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of clinical documentation for U.S. healthcare operations. Your leadership helps documentation reflect severity of illness, risk of mortality, patient complexity, coding accuracy, and revenue cycle performance.

This role gives you daily visibility across CDI specialists, physicians, coding teams, HIM leaders, and U.S.-based CDI leadership. You will turn quality trends, query activity, productivity metrics, and documentation gaps into practical coaching and stronger team execution.

What You’ll Do

Supervise CDI Specialists through daily guidance, coaching, performance feedback, 1-on-1s, team huddles, and performance reviews.

Monitor work queues, productivity metrics, query volumes, and service level targets to keep team performance on track.

Support onboarding, training, and skills development while building a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and quality excellence.

Oversee concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient and outpatient medical records.

Validate principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, HCC risk scores, MS-DRG, APR-DRG, and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding accuracy in collaboration with coding teams.

Review and approve clinical queries before physician submission where required, ensuring queries are compliant, non-leading, and aligned with AHIMA and ACDIS standards.

Track query response rates, unresolved queries, documentation capture rates, and quality trends, then escalation issues as appropriate.

Conduct internal audits to identify documentation gaps, compliance risks, education opportunities, and process improvement needs.

Ensure adherence to CDI program policies, coding guidelines, HIPAA, PHI handling protocols, regulatory requirements, and client-specific data security requirements.

Prepare quality, productivity, dashboard, and trend reports for the CDI Manager/Director and management teams.

Serve as the Manila-based point of contact for U.S. CDI, coding, HIM, Case Management, and Revenue Integrity stakeholders.

Coordinate with U.S.-based CDI leadership on program goals, updates, escalations, SOPs, workflow improvements, and CDI technology implementations.

Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

Education

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Physical Therapy, or Allied Health Sciences required.

Medical degree (MD) is an advantage but not required.

Formal training or certification in Clinical Documentation Improvement preferred.

Certifications Preferred

CCDS, Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist, ACDIS.

CDIP, Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner, AHIMA.

CCS, Certified Coding Specialist, or CIC, Certified Inpatient Coder.

Experience

Minimum 5-7 years of CDI experience in a U.S.-based healthcare or knowledge process services environment.

At least 2-3 years in a supervisory, lead, or senior CDI role.

Demonstrated experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines and DRG optimization.

Experience working with CDI software platforms, such as Epic Guesthouse, Solventum CDI Collaborate, 3M 360 Encompass, Nuance CDI, Optum CDI Advisor, etc.

Knowledge and Skills

Strong understanding of U.S. healthcare revenue cycle, medical coding, and clinical terminology.

Proficiency in interpreting medical records, lab results, radiology reports, and operative notes.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Strong leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution abilities.

High attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical mindset.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.

Comfortable working in a strict data privacy and security environment.

What You Can Expect

You can expect a practical leadership role where coaching, quality, and documentation integrity directly affect CDI performance. You will work with a close-knit team supporting U.S. healthcare programs and gain visibility across clinical documentation, coding, revenue integrity, and client delivery.

HMO Coverage: Day-one HMO coverage with a Php 200,000 maximum benefit limit, plus 1 dependent for individual contributors or up to 2 dependents for managers and above.

13th Month Pay: Employees who work at least one month in the calendar year are eligible for 13th Month Pay, released on or before December 24 and computed according to Labor Code and DOLE guidelines.

Service Incentive Leave: 20 leave credits per year, prorated in the first year based on hire date.

Unused Leave Credit Monetization: Unused leave credits may be monetized at year-end, up to 5 days for individual contributors or up to 10 days for managers and above.

Night Differential: 10% night differential for eligible work hours.

Working Hours: 8 working hours per day, excluding a 1-hour lunch break.

Annual Performance Appraisal: Eligibility is based on individual and company performance.

Other Leaves: Includes applicable statutory leaves such as Magna Carta, Solo Parent, VAWC, Maternity, Paternity, and other legally mandated leaves.
