Job summary

Varaha is seeking aCarbon Modeler / Data Analyst to strengthen our climate mitigation projects in agriculture. You will apply process-based models to analyze soil carbon dynamics and greenhouse gas emissions, and process data with Python or R to ensure accurate results.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate scientific insights into project strategies, and communicate findings through reports and stakeholder discussions.

Qualifications

• A degree (Master’s or Bachelor’s with relevant experience) in Soil Science, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
• Some experience with agricultural or ecosystem modeling (e.g., DayCent, DNDC, RothC, or similar tools).
• Proficiency in data analysis using Python, R, or other relevant programming languages.
• Ability to work with large datasets, ensuring accurate processing and analysis.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude toward solving complex problems

Responsibilities

• Use process-based models (e.g., DayCent, DNDC, RothC) to analyze greenhouse gas emissions and soil carbon dynamics.
• Prepare and process data using tools like Python or R, streamlining workflows for accurate results.
• Support the development of systems for Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) of carbon projects, ensuring compliance with carbon protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate scientific insights into project strategies.
• Communicate findings effectively through reports, presentations, and discussions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
