Hyre is seeking a precise CAD Drafter to produce detailed drawings for fabrication and installation in sheet metal and roofing. You will use AutoCAD to develop 2D/3D drawings and ensure designs meet codes and weatherproofing requirements.

The role emphasizes constructability, clear communication with project stakeholders, and secure file management of DWG/DWF/PDF while working fully remotely from a home office.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or certificate in drafting is required.
• 2–5 years of drafting or CAD design experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam; MS Office.
• Must have a quiet remote home office with reliable internet.
• Sheet metal or roofing detailing experience is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Drafting & design: Use AutoCAD to develop highly accurate 2D and 3D drawings for roofing and sheet metal projects.
• Plan interpretation & modification: Read and interpret drawings; incorporate field measurements; revise drawings as needed.
• Constructability & compliance: Ensure designs meet codes and standards; detail weatherproofing and durability.
• Pre-construction support: Assist project managers with pre-construction tasks; provide readable drawings for stakeholders.

CAD Drafter

• Work Type: Full-time.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly precise CAD Detailer to produce detailed and accurate drawings for fabrication and installation teams within the sheet metal and roofing sector. In this role, you will use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to develop comprehensive plans, including blueprints, 2D/3D drawings, and other design documents. The ideal candidate will combine technical drafting expertise with a strong understanding of constructability, code compliance, and weatherproofing to ensure seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting & Design: Use AutoCAD to develop highly accurate 2D and 3D drawings for commercial and residential roofing and sheet metal projects.

• Plan Interpretation & Modification: Read and interpret contract drawings and specifications. Incorporate field measurements into workable plans and revise existing drawings based on client specifications.

• Constructability & Compliance: Review designs for potential issues, ensuring strict adherence to building codes and industry standards. Detail designs for weatherproofing and durability, optimizing connections and transitions for peak roof performance.

• Pre-Construction Support: Assist Project Managers and Engineers with pre-construction tasks and ensure clear communication by providing highly readable drawings to project stakeholders.

• File Management: Organize, manage, and maintain all computer design files securely (DWG, DWF, PDF).

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: A Technical Degree or Certificate in Drafting, or equivalent on-the-job training, is strictly required.

• Experience: 2–5 years of related work experience in drafting or CAD design.

• Technical Proficiency: Proven, hands-on proficiency using AutoCAD. Working knowledge of Bluebeam Software and Microsoft Office products (especially Excel and Word).

• Core Competencies: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Must embody a growth mindset, extreme ownership, and positive professionalism when communicating with stakeholders, supervisors, and team members.

• Remote Infrastructure: Must have a dedicated, noise-free home office setup equipped with a reliable, high-speed internet connection and a backup power source.

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus):

• Prior experience specifically in sheet metal or roofing detailing is a strong plus.
