Job summary

Merck Group is seeking a senior professional to drive strategic development of the Global Payroll Process within HR/Employee Services. You will own end-to-end transformations, designing advanced tools and data structures, and align senior stakeholders across regions to achieve standardized, efficient payroll operations.

The role requires strong project leadership, experience managing international teams, and fluency in English to communicate across a global organization.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of global payroll experience in a GBS or similar corporate setting.
• End-to-end project management experience leading large-scale initiatives.
• 5+ years of leading international, virtual teams with stakeholders across regions.
• Deep understanding of operational payroll delivery and day-to-day execution.
• Fully fluent in written and spoken English.

Your Role

The holder of this position will drive the strategic process development across the Global Payroll Process of HR/Employee Services. You will lead initiatives focusing on the simplification, harmonization, standardization, documentation, and performance measurement of these processes in alignment with the Merck strategy .

You will take full ownership of understanding, designing, and developing advanced tools, processes, and data structures within the GPO Payroll domain. You will act as a key strategic partner, aligning senior stakeholders, managing cross-functional dependencies, and steering complex global payroll transformations from conception to execution.

Who You Are

• Professional Experience: You have at least 6–8 years of experience in global payroll processes within a GBS organization or a comparable corporate environment, with a proven track record of operating at a senior or expert level.
• Project Management Expertise: Strong, demonstrated background in end-to-end Project Management. You have successfully led large-scale, complex projects and strategic initiatives aimed at implementing measurable process improvements and global system rollouts.
• Stakeholder & Team Leadership: At least 5 years of experience leading and influencing diverse, international, and virtual teams. You possess exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to align multiple departments, regional leads, and external vendors.
• Operational Insight: Deep understanding of operational payroll delivery teams, enabling you to effectively bridge the gap between high-level strategy and day-to-day execution.
• Languages: You are fully fluent in written and spoken English, with the ability to negotiate, present, and collaborate effectively in a global business environment.
