WHAT IS A FINANCE AND ADMIN OFFICER?
Our awesome client, a fast-growing Australian business operating across multiple entities, is looking for a Finance and Administration Officer to be part of their Finance & Administration team.
Own the day-to-day finance function, managing bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll, month-end reporting, and finance administration while helping improve and automate processes as the business continues to scale.
WHAT WILL BE YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES?
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and reconciliations using Odoo and Xero, including weekly bank reconciliations and the accounts payable cycle.
- Process payroll and superannuation through MYOB while maintaining accurate employee and contractor records.
- Handle month-end close activities, including trial balances, account reconciliations, and entity-level profit & loss reporting.
- Identify tax-relevant transactions and prepare accurate workpapers for the external accounting firm.
- Liaise directly with the external accounting firm regarding finance and tax-related requirements.
- Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements directly within Odoo, including reconciliation rules, scheduled actions, and recurring journal entries.
- Monitor outstanding payments and provide occasional follow-up where required.
- Manage shared finance and administration inboxes and respond to queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Support the ongoing development and improvement of the finance function as the business grows.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Hands-on, real-world Odoo experience — this is the most important requirement for the role.
- At least 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Experience with MYOB payroll, including Australian superannuation obligations.
- Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate directly with the business owner and external accounting firm.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Strong reconciliation and month-end accounting skills.
- Experience working with multiple entities is an advantage.
- Xero experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Australian GST, BAS, and ATO compliance concepts is a plus.
- CPA or equivalent accounting qualification is advantageous.
- A continuous-improvement mindset, with an interest in automation and improving finance processes.
