About the role
This role supports multiple companies through accurate financial recordkeeping, account reconciliation, and timely financial reporting. The Bookkeeper maintains accurate, current books of account for Via Group and its operating companies and keeps the record-level groundwork the Group Finance and Accounting Head and each company rely on for close, compliance and decision support.
Key responsibilities
- Record day to day transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, disbursements and payroll entries, accurately and on time in the books of account and designated accounting system.
- Prepare and maintain the chart of accounts, general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, bank reconciliations and petty cash reconciliations for assigned companies.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable entries, match supporting documents, and flag discrepancies before posting.
- Prepare working papers, schedules and supporting documentation for month end close, statutory filings with BIR, SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG, and external audit.
- Translate approved company priorities into measurable monthly and weekly plans, owners, deadlines and required resources.
- Maintain accurate records, dashboards, risks, decisions and follow through actions for the assigned function.
- Coordinate actively with operating company leaders, Shared Services colleagues, customers, suppliers and professional advisers as applicable.
- Provide timely, accurate and practical advice without taking over the operating accountability of the receiving company.
- Identify opportunities to improve cost, speed, control, customer experience and employee effectiveness.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Accounting Technology, Business Administration major in Accounting, or a Bookkeeping NC III certification, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of manual and computerized bookkeeping, Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, and willingness to use approved enterprise and accounting systems, including Odoo once deployed.
- Ability to prepare accurate journal entries, reconciliations, schedules and basic financial reports.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet recurring closing deadlines.
- Demonstrated integrity and ability to protect confidential and commercially sensitive financial information.
- Proactive, detail oriented, and adaptable.
- Organized, dependable, and confident using accounting software.
- Comfortable managing competing priorities, collaborating with different teams, and maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in a dynamic business environment.
