A barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee and other beverages, often in a café or coffee shop setting. Their typical duties include:
- Preparing Beverages: Brewing coffee, espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and other specialty drinks according to customer preferences or store recipes.
- Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers, take orders, and handle any issues or complaints professionally.
- Experience: Previous experience in food service or as a barista is often preferred, but on-the-job training is usually provided.
- Knowledge of Coffee and Beverages: Familiarity with different types of coffee, espresso-based drinks, brewing methods, and the ability to learn new recipes and drink variations.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow drink recipes accurately, ensure quality and consistency, and maintain cleanliness in the work area.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, handle fast-paced work environments, and manage repetitive tasks like making drinks or cleaning equipment.
