Job summary

Propelrr is seeking a Jr. Java Backend Developer to join our technology team. The role focuses on developing, maintaining, and improving backend systems that support our digital solutions.

You will write, test, and debug Java code, develop APIs for frontend communication, and collaborate with product managers and front-end developers to deliver scalable features. A strong foundation in Spring Boot and database technologies is required.

Qualifications

About the role

Propelrr is looking for a Back-End Developer to join our growing technology team. The role will focus on developing, maintaining, and improving backend systems and applications that support our digital products and solutions.

Summary of Responsibilities -

As a Jr. Java BE Developer, he/she is expected to perform the following duties;

• Completes all assigned modules/features according to the Sprint Plans
• Develops efficient, testable, and reusable modules according to the agreed design solution, including the integration of data storage solutions (SQL, NoSQL, etc)
• Implements secure handling of data transit, storage, and retrieval, including, but not limited to, encryption and encoding of sensitive information
• Ensures that all assigned modules/features are finished according to the agreed scope estimates
• Ensures that all assigned modules/features for a specific Sprint should not be carried over to the next Sprint.
• Ensures that he/she is well-versed in the usage of required IDEs, tools, and/or Java frameworks (Spring is a MUST)
• Ensures solution designs and developed modules are in compliance with specifications
• Ensures that the developed modules/features are compliant with the internal quality control standard

Code Development:

• Write, test, and debug Java code to implement backend functionalities.
• Develop and maintain APIs for seamless communication between the backend and frontend.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of new features and functionalities.
• Ensure code quality by adhering to coding standards and best practices.

Database Management:

• Work with databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) to store and retrieve data.
• Optimize database queries for performance.

Testing and Debugging:

• Write unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure the reliability and robustness of the backend systems.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues to identify and resolve problems.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and Java/Spring Boot technologies.

Other Responsibilities:

• Participate in the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Document code and maintain project documentation.
• Contribute to the improvement of existing systems and processes.
