Job summary

Dwightsteel Building Systems, Inc. seeks an experienced automotive technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles in our service shop.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform engine and system repairs, and conduct routine maintenance as part of a safety-first team. Ideal candidates bring a high school diploma or equivalent, ASE certification is a plus, and hands-on experience with diagnostic tools and power/hand tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or automotive certification preferred.
• ASE certification a plus but not required.
• Proven experience as an automotive technician or mechanic.
• Strong understanding of vehicle systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment, power tools, and hand tools.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and move heavy parts and work in physically demanding conditions.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and test drives.

• Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
• Inspect vehicles for wear, damage, or safety concerns and recommend appropriate repairs.
• Complete work orders and document all inspections, repairs, and parts used.
• Communicate clearly with service advisors or customers about vehicle conditions and recommended repairs.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean, safe condition.
• Follow industry safety standards and shop procedures.
• Stay updated on new automotive technologies and repair techniques.
