We are looking for a hands-on and independent Automation Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team in the Philippines. You will work on customized industrial automation, robotics and precision machine projects, taking mechanical design responsibility from concept development through detailed design, component selection, machine assembly, testing and troubleshooting. This is not a CAD drafting-only position. The successful candidate must understand automation machine design, have strong knowledge of component sizing and selection, and be able to independently develop practical mechanical solutions.
Independently develop mechanical concepts and designs for customized automation machines and modules.
Create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor.
Perform engineering calculations and independently size and select automation components such as servo motors, gearboxes, linear guides, bearings, ball screws, electric actuators, pneumatic cylinders, valves, vacuum components, belts, pulleys, gears and couplings.
Design machine mechanisms, frames, fixtures, grippers, robot end-effectors, pick-and-place systems and other automation assemblies.
Prepare complete Bill of Materials (BOM), fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and detailed part drawings.
Source and select suitable components, materials and suppliers based on technical requirements, cost and lead time.
Conduct design reviews and ensure designs meet functionality, safety, manufacturability and maintainability requirements.
Work closely with project, electrical, controls and assembly teams during machine building.
Provide hands-on troubleshooting and design modification support during machine assembly and testing.
Support FAT, installation and commissioning when required.
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 2-5+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience in industrial automation, customized machinery or automated equipment.
Must be able to independently design an automation machine or module from concept to complete detailed design.
Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering calculations and automation component sizing/selection.
Strong 3D CAD capability using SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor.
Good understanding of machine mechanisms, tolerances, materials, machining/fabrication and assembly processes.
Able to independently prepare complete BOMs, assembly drawings and fabrication/detail drawings.
Strong practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
