Job summary

Michael Page seeks a lead Mechanical Engineer to drive hardware and automation projects across Southeast Asia, focusing on device handling, docking interfaces, and Change Kits. You will collaborate with R&D, service, and customers to deliver robust, scalable solutions with strong design fundamentals.

The role requires 2+ years in mechanical design or automation, proficiency with CAD tools, and a willingness to travel across SEA to support installations and on-site reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years in mechanical design, automation engineering, mechatronics, or equipment integration.
• Proficient with CAD tools: NX, AutoCAD, Cadra, Teamcenter or similar.
• Strong design fundamentals and engineering problem solving.
• Travel extensively across Southeast Asia and support customers onsite.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Device Handling features, Change Kits, and docking interfaces.
• Collaborate with R&D, engineering teams, and customers to develop robust solutions.
• Conduct technical consultations, customer design reviews, and engineering assessments.
• Develop and maintain customer-specific design standards and engineering best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement based on engineering feedback and field experience.
• Manage engineering projects from design through implementation and customer acceptance.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
• Monitor project schedules, milestones, and risk management activities.
• Support production readiness and successful deployment of engineering solutions.
• Work with customers and service teams to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Provide technical support for devices, sockets, load boards, Change Kits, and docking interfaces.
• Partner with Sales as a technical advisor to support business development.
• Assist in technical quotations, solution configurations, and customer engagements.
• Contribute to SMART Test Cell and SMART Factory initiatives and future product programs.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Mechanical Engineer should have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design, automation engineering, mechatronics, or equipment integration.
• Proficiency with CAD platforms such as NX, AutoCAD, Cadra, Teamcenter, or similar software.
• Strong mechanical design fundamentals and engineering problem-solving capability.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and mechatronics concepts.
• Experience conducting design reviews, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with customer-facing experience.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, R&D, service, and commercial teams.
• Demonstrated project management and execution capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholder requirements simultaneously.
• Willingness to travel extensively across Southeast Asia and support customers onsite.
• Experience within semiconductor equipment, test handlers, precision engineering, or automation industries will be highly advantageous.
