Qualifications

• Minimum of an Associate's Degree or 3–5 years of equivalent technical experience in automation, systems integration, or related IT discipline.
• MSP experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with automation design patterns, REST APIs, and scripting across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

Job Description

SUMMARY

The Automation Engineer is responsible for identifying,designing, and implementing automation solutions that streamline internalbusiness processes and enhance the services delivered internally and externally.Working across teams, this role evaluates existing workflows and toolsets, thenbuilds integrations and custom automations to eliminate manual effort, reduceerrors, and scale service delivery. The Automation Engineer works closely withinternal teams and management to learn how the business operates and findopportunities to improve it through technology.

This role operates at the intersection of IT operations andsoftware development, requiring fluency in Company's core platforms — includingConnectWise, Microsoft 365, Azure and PIA — as well as proficiency inscripting, data tooling, and system integration. The Automation Engineer isexpected to maintain thorough documentation of all solutions built and deployed.

JOBRESPONSIBILITIES

• Assess anddocument existing business processes across departments to identify automationopportunities and inefficiencies.
  
• Design, develop,test, and deploy automation solutions using ConnectWise, PIA, PowerShell,Python, and other approved platforms.
  
• Consume andintegrate REST APIs and webhook-based triggers to connect ADNET's internaltools with third-party platforms.
  
• Write, maintain,and version-control scripts in PowerShell and Python using Git to supportendpoint management, reporting, and workflow automation.
  
• Use SQL andDatabricks to extract, analyze, and act on operational data to informautomation strategies and report on efficiency gains.
  
• Collaborate withbusiness units and management to gather requirements and translate them intoautomated workflows.
  
• Participate inclient-facing discussions where automation solutions directly impact clientservice delivery or onboarding.
  
• Maintainthorough documentation of all automations, integrations, and scripts in ADNET'sknowledge management systems.
  
• Monitor deployedautomations for reliability and performance; troubleshoot and remediatefailures promptly.
  
• Identifyrecurring support issues and recommend or build proactive automation solutionsto reduce ticket volume.
  
• Apply rigoroustesting and QA practices before deploying any automation to productionenvironments.
  
• Map and diagrambusiness workflows prior to building automations to ensure solutions addressroot causes, not just symptoms.
  
• Implement propererror handling and exception management in all automations to ensure failuresare surfaced and resolved quickly.
  
• Stay currentwith new capabilities in ConnectWise, M365, PIA, and the broader MSP automationecosystem.
  
• Participate inteam meetings; be prepared to discuss automation project status, blockers, andupcoming initiatives.
  
• Perform otherresponsibilities related to Automation Engineering as assigned by Manager.
  
• The AutomationEngineer will be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following haveoccurred:
  
• Maintainsaccurate and up-to-date documentation for all automations and integrationsdeployed.
  
• Automationsolutions are delivered on schedule, thoroughly tested, and meet therequirements gathered from stakeholders.
  
• Measurableefficiency gains (e.g., reduced ticket volume, reduced manual effort) aretracked and reported regularly.
  
• Scripts andautomations are reliable in production; failures are identified and resolvedquickly with minimal disruption to clients or internal operations.
  
• Complete alltime entries in real-time using correct grammar and punctuation; submittimesheets and ConnectWise entries daily.
  
• Collaborateseffectively with other team members, sharing knowledge and supporting thebroader team.
  
• Communicatesclearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients,regarding the status and impact of automation work.
  
• Maintains apositive attitude, professional presentation, and productive communicationstyle that contributes to ADNET's collaborative work environment.
  
• Complies withall company and departmental policies and procedures.
  
• IncorporatesADNET core values in the execution of duties.
  
• Understand andincorporate ITIL principles into ticket classification.
  
• Maintainsprogress toward career goals and objectives including furtherment of educationand certifications.
  

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education /Experience: A minimum of an Associate's Degree or 3–5 years of equivalenttechnical experience in automation, systems integration, or a related ITdiscipline. MSP experience is strongly preferred. Experience in high-volumeservice environments with exposure to integration platforms, scripting, andbusiness process improvement is a plus.
  
• Skill Level: Mustpossess working knowledge of automation design patterns, REST API consumption,and scripting in PowerShell and/or Python. Candidates should be comfortableoperating across multiple platforms simultaneously and translating businessprocess requirements into functional technical solutions. Experience consumingREST APIs and working with webhooks to trigger and integrate automatedworkflows is expected. Familiarity with version control practices using Git foran managing and maintaining script repositories is required. Candidates shouldalso have foundational knowledge of low-code and no-code platforms tocomplement heavier scripting work where appropriate.
  
• The idealcandidate approaches problems with genuine curiosity — proactively seeking outinefficiencies in the business and proposing solutions without being asked.They think in terms of business outcomes, not just technical tasks, and cantranslate operational pain points into well-designed automations. Strongattention to detail and a quality-first mindset are essential: automationsdeployed to production must be thoroughly tested, as failures can have directimpact on client operations. The ability to communicate clearly withnon-technical stakeholders — including operations staff, management, andclients — is equally important, as this role requires gathering requirements,explaining solutions, and documenting work so that others can maintain andbuild upon it. A collaborative approach and a willingness to adapt as tools,priorities, and client environments evolve are core to success in this role.
  

TECHNICAL SKILS

• PowerShell:Scripting for endpoint management, automation of Windows environments, andintegration with Windows, Azure and M365

• Version control(Git): Managing, versioning, and maintaining script and automation coderepositories
  
• Process mapping:Documenting and diagramming existing business workflows prior to automationdesign
  
• Error handling& exception management: Building automations that fail gracefully andsurface issues clearly
