NAIS CORP is seeking a reliable Bookkeeper / BAS Support Officer to join our Australian bookkeeping practice. You will handle day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, reconciliations, and BAS/IAS reporting under supervision to ensure accuracy and compliance.
You will work with clients, prepare management reports, and support month-, quarter-, and year-end processes in a detail-focused role. The position requires AU bookkeeping experience and strong English communication.
We are seeking a reliable, detail-focused Bookkeeper / BAS Support Officer to join our Australian bookkeeping practice. The role supports small business clients with day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll administration, reconciliations, reporting, and preparation of information required for Business Activity Statements. The successful candidate will work under the supervision and quality review processes of the registered BAS agent to ensure client work is accurate, compliant, timely, and professionally delivered
Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records for a portfolio of Australian small business clients.
Process sales invoices, supplier bills, receipts, payments, and expense claims in accounting software.
Perform bank, credit card, loan, clearing account, and merchant account reconciliations.
Assist with preparation of BAS, IAS, GST, PAYG withholding, and other ATO reporting information for review and lodgement by the registered BAS agent.
Process payroll, including employee setup, pay runs, leave, superannuation, STP reporting support, and payroll reconciliations.
Review coding, GST treatment, payroll categories, and supporting documentation to identify issues requiring clarification or escalation.
Prepare management reports, debtor and creditor reports, cashflow summaries, and other client reporting as required.
Communicate professionally with clients to request missing information, clarify transactions, and follow up on outstanding items.
Maintain client records, checklists, workpapers, and file notes in accordance with internal quality management procedures.
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end bookkeeping processes, including accountant handover packs where required.
Other Ad hoc Task
Work within the scope of your role and promptly escalate BAS, GST, payroll tax, superannuation, or compliance matters requiring review by the registered BAS agent.
Apply reasonable care when gathering client information, checking records, and preparing work for review. Maintain client confidentiality and protect client information at all times.
Act honestly, professionally, and in the best interests of clients while following firm procedures.
Comply with internal review, approval, lodgement, and quality management processes before client work is finalised.
Maintain relevant bookkeeping, payroll, software, and compliance knowledge through ongoing training and professional development.
Other Ad hoc Tasks
Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, Certificate IV in Financial Services, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
Experience working in an Australian bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, or small business finance environment.
Strong understanding of Australian GST, BAS preparation workflows, payroll, superannuation, and record-keeping requirements.
Experience using cloud accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks Online, or similar.
Experience using receipt capture, document management, workflow, or practice management tools is desirable.
Ability to manage recurring deadlines across multiple clients with accuracy and consistency.
1-2 years minimum AU Bookkeeping experience
