This senior technical leadership role will provide direction, governance, and quality oversight across BESS, renewable energy, and grid connection projects. The role supports delivery across the project lifecycle—from feasibility and concept design to FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.

Projects include utility‑scale BESS, renewable integration, hybrid systems, grid connections, and substation interfaces. Delivery is aligned with AECOM’s global technical governance framework; statutory sign‑off remains with licensed entities in the relevant jurisdiction.

Collaboration with global teams is required, including occasional off‑hours coordination.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Governance
  • Act as the senior BESS technical lead within the Philippines T&D team.
  • Provide direction, oversight, and assurance across MV, HV, and EHV projects.
  • Ensure alignment with international standards, client requirements, and AECOM procedures.
  • Lead design reviews, technical assurance, and quality control processes.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Lead and review design activities across all project stages (feasibility to detailed design).
  • Oversee BESS balance‑of‑plant systems including electrical, control, SCADA, and grid interface.
  • Develop grid connection solutions (11kV–400kV), including protection and compliance.
  • Review layouts, SLDs, specifications, and control philosophies.
  • Support renewable integration (solar, wind, hybrid systems).
  • Coordinate grid studies (load flow, short circuit, protection, harmonics).
  • Review supplier/OEM deliverables and construction‑stage queries.
Project Delivery & Coordination
  • Collaborate with project managers, discipline leads, and global teams.
  • Ensure coordinated, high‑quality multidisciplinary outputs.
  • Contribute to proposals, delivery strategies, and resource planning.
  • Support technical engagement with clients, utilities, and delivery partners.
Team Leadership & Capability Development
  • Mentor and develop engineers within the BESS and grid connection discipline.
  • Support recruitment and capability growth.
  • Promote technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to standards, tools, and design guidance development.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering (or related field).
  • Significant experience in BESS, renewables, or grid‑connected infrastructure.
  • Background in consultancy, contractor, OEM, developer, utility, or owner’s engineer roles.
  • Strong knowledge of BESS systems, renewable integration, and grid requirements.
  • Experience in FEED, detailed design, or technical assurance roles.
  • Understanding of MV/HV systems including transformers, switchgear, protection, SCADA.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Must be open to working onsite 3 days per week.
  • Strong technical judgement and leadership capability.
  • Ability to mentor and guide engineers.
  • Client‑focused with excellent coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and global workshare delivery.
  • Strong commitment to quality and delivery reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on UK or international T&D and BESS projects.
  • Knowledge of UK Grid Code, G99, and G100 requirements.
  • Experience with co‑located renewable + storage systems.
  • Experience with large‑scale programmes or developer/utility frameworks.
  • Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, DIgSILENT, CYMCAP, or equivalents.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies (grid‑forming, hybrid systems, LDES).
  • Knowledge of BESS safety considerations (fire, layout, ventilation).
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional registration (advantageous).
Additional Information

This Philippines‑based role supports international delivery and does not include statutory sign‑off or engineer‑of‑record responsibility. These remain with licensed AECOM entities in the relevant jurisdictions.

The role may require occasional early morning or late evening collaboration but is not a night‑shift position.
