Job summary

Amentum, a global leader in engineering and technical services, seeks an Assistant Fire Chief of Training to develop and manage comprehensive training for Fire and Emergency Services on Diego Garcia. You will ensure readiness and compliance with NFPA, DoD, and Navy requirements.

You will design programs for a multinational team, supervise training activities, maintain records, and coordinate with external certifying bodies while guiding staff through certification pathways.

Qualifications

• Three years leading an F&ES training section in a fire department of Diego Garcia’s size.
• Certification as Assistant Chief of Operations and Fire Instructor III.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience developing and delivering comprehensive training programs for fire and emergency personnel.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain deployment compliance.
• Must obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Fire and Emergency Services training program, ensuring alignment with current fire service standards and certifications.
• Design and implement tailored training programs for a multi-national fire department workforce.
• Supervise all aspects of firefighter training, including classroom instruction, drills, and simulations.
• Evaluate personnel performance during training exercises and readiness drills, providing feedback and adjustments.
• Ensure personnel achieve and maintain fire service certifications per NFPA, DoD, and Navy requirements.
• Develop and maintain a schedule of required certification courses and compliance.
• Oversee procurement, maintenance, and upkeep of training equipment and materials.
• Establish training policies, procedures, and guidelines for safety and consistency.
• Maintain detailed training records and prepare reports for audits and compliance.
• Serve as liaison to external training organizations and certifying bodies.
