Job summary

Maersk is seeking an Area Head - Single Carrier Landside Operations for Mexico to lead end-to-end dispatch, including shipment planning, carrier assignment, and container movement monitoring, ensuring timely delivery to customer locations.

Qualifications

• Graduate ideal is Finance and Accounting.
• Proficiency in Spanish and English is required.

• At least 3 years of team leadership experience.
• Willingness to work night shifts; onsite in Pasig City.
• Total experience in operations, shipping, or freight forwarding is 10–12 years.
• Experience leading a team of individual contributors or leaders.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end dispatch, including shipment planning and carrier assignment.
• Monitor container movement and ensure timely delivery to customer locations.
• Oversee exception management, vendor disputes, and charge approvals.
• Identify and implement improvements to eliminate disruptions and improve efficiency.
• Maintain strong controls to prevent revenue leakage and ensure SLA compliance.
• Communicate with business partners and coordinate across teams within the GSC.
• Lead a high-energy team with an owner’s mindset and coach staff.
• Support contingency testing and cross-organization coverage when needed.

Area Head - Single Carrier Landside Operations - Mexico

This position is responsible for managing end-to-end dispatch operations, including shipment planning, carrier assignment, container movement monitoring, and ensuring timely delivery to customer locations. In addition to dispatch execution, the role oversees exception management activities such as vendor dispute resolution, charge approvals, and addressing operational issues that disrupt the standard process flow. The position also drives continuous improvement by identifying and implementing solutions to eliminate recurring disruptions and enhance overall process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Business Performance – contribute to business performance by the way of ensuring contribution margin across customers are profitable/positive
• Ensure the process has strong controls so there is no revenue leakage
• Ensure all processes are performed as per the agreed terms in Service Level Agreement - Timely & Accurate and maintain and develop effective and efficient operational set-ups and procedures
• Ensure compliance to Performance Management Framework. Track and monitor other KPI's related to the process
• Focus on people engagement by motivating and coaching highly energized team to deliver organizational outcomes with an owner’s mindset
• Have a continuous improvement mind-set
• Stakeholder communication: Regularly participate and take necessary call / discussions with Business Partners; Timely & professional interaction with Business Partners / Stakeholders; Communicate & Co-ordination with other teams within GSC.
• Actively participate in relevant business contingency testing. Support other GSC’s during contingency procedures.
• Strict adherence to APM-M Group culture, values and reputation and ensure compliance with APM-M Group and CB policies.
• To promote an environment of Effective Communication, Constant improvement and live our values.
• Support the team in any escalation or inconvenience that may arise in the operation.

Qualifications

• Graduate, ideally Finance and Accounting
• Should be able to speak and write Spanish (preferably) and English
• Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in shipping industry. (Better if from landside process)
• Minimum 3 years of team handling experience
• Graduate, or Postgraduate in any discipline
• Willingness to work in full night shift; Onsite/WFO in Pasig City
• At least 10-12 years' experience in operations, shipping container and logistics or Freight forwarder industry. Knowledge on landside business would be a added advantage
• Should have prior experience leading a team of Individual contributors or Team leaders

• Basic knowledge of capacity management/preparing staffing plan
• Experience working in a global business environment, including cultural aspects
• Excellent verbal and written English skills for co-ordination with Stakeholders
• Highly result oriented, ready to take challenges/collaborate with cross functional teams and able to work under pressure
• Capacity to handle change, stay open to different ideas and support for positive change
• Understand work in an agile manner, High analytical / problem-solving skills
• Proactive leader with customer service mindset
• Large scale improvement (standardization and process capability) implementation experience
• Focus on productivity, quality, WFO adherence, SLA compliance, and Kaizen.
