Job summary

Vallen Singapore Pte Ltd (Philippines Branch) is seeking an Application Engineer to interface with customers and suppliers to specify cutting tool solutions that boost productivity and margin.

You will analyze customer processes, collaborate with sourcing to meet quality targets, provide technical training, and conduct tooling tests while ensuring world-class service and compliance with sourcing policies.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Profound knowledge in metalworking and CNC cutting tool applications.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under deadlines and in a team.
• Experience in vendor/supplier management and tooling networks.
• Understanding of EBIT and working capital is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyse customers’ tooling needs and identify effective tool solutions to improve productivity.
• Collaborate with Sourcing to identify alternate materials and suppliers to meet quality targets.
• Develop tooling operational steps to achieve productivity targets.
• Provide technical training to internal teams and customers.
• Offer technical support and troubleshoot supplier issues to timely resolutions.

• Support new business development with relevant tooling expertise.
• Ensure world-class customer service and compliance with sourcing policies.
• Conduct tooling tests and report on cost savings and performance.
• Visit customers regularly to increase visibility with customers and suppliers.

Job description

As Application Engineer, you are responsible for interfacing with customers and suppliers to specify and identify Cutting Tool product structures according to customers’ needs. Key to this process will be growing margin of the Cutting Tool product group or saving costs for customers by providing product application, technical and commercial support.

What will you deliver?

• Analyse customers’ existing methodologies, processes, and applications of metal-cutting tools and identify effective tooling solutions that drive productivity improvements for existing setups or new product introductions.

• Partner and collaborate with the Sourcing team to identify alternate material sources, suppliers, and manufacturers to meet quality targets, enhance productivity, and drive costs reduction.

• Develop tooling operational steps for customers to achieve the planned productivity improvement targets.

• Provide effective consultancy, product and technical training to internal teams and customers.

• Provide technical support to customers through troubleshooting of issues and working with suppliers to ensure timely resolution.

• Provide updated local market requirements and competitive intelligence to internal teams.

• Support Vallen’s new business development with relevant expertise.

• Ensure world class customer service is achieved.

• Ensure compliance with Vallen’s sourcing policies and procedures.

• Conduct tooling tests to improve productivity and provide a comprehensive report covering cost savings and performance.

• Conduct regular visits to customers to increase visibility and awareness with customer and suppliers.

• Strengthen Vallen’s position from shop floor to management and all elements of the customers business.

Key Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Precision or related discipline.

• Profound knowledge in metal working and CNC cutting tool applications

• Good customer service skills

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills

• Effective communication skills

• Good team player with the ability to work effectively under deadlines

• Experience in vendor/suppliers’ management

• Experience in Cutting Tools and of relevant supply network.

• Understanding of financial concepts such as EBIT and working capital is a plus.
