Job summary

Nordic is seeking an Application Portfolio Management Analyst I to support the end-to-end lifecycle of an organization's software applications, from planning to decommissioning. You will track applications, assess functionality, and drive rationalization and data retention initiatives to ensure compliance and business continuity.

Qualifications

  • Experience executing ITIL-aligned service management processes, including Incident, Request, and Change Management.
  • Proven analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and customer-service abilities.
  • Experience managing application support and documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Fundamental understanding of application portfolio management methodologies and frameworks.
  • Experience with the technical aspects of applications, including infrastructure, databases, integrations, dependencies, and underlying technologies.
  • Experience in application lifecycle management from inception to retirement, and managing each stage effectively.
  • Experience tracking software applications and related assets within an inventory.
  • Ability to assess software applications to determine whether they should be kept, replaced, retired, or consolidated as part of rationalization.
  • Experience with data retention policies and procedures for managing physical and digital records.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate contract terms to identify costs and termination provisions.

Responsibilities

  • Track an organization's software applications and related assets using various inventory management and tracking tools.
  • Assess the functionalities of new applications to determine if they meet defined requirements and provide necessary capabilities.
  • Identify applications that provide similar or overlapping functionalities as part of application rationalization.
  • Facilitate the decommission of outdated, redundant, or underperforming applications while ensuring data integrity, compliance, and business continuity.
  • Facilitate the extraction, transformation, and migration of historical data from legacy applications to new systems or archiving it for compliance and historical purposes.
  • Stay updated on relevant regulations and ensure application management practices adhere to legal and industry standards.
  • Manage application and team documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and relevancy.
  • Plan and execute application upgrades and security patches, ensuring applications stay patched for security vulnerabilities.
  • Lead smaller analyst-led projects, taking on basic project management tasks such as scheduling calls, coordinating with team members, tracking follow-ups, and communicating project status.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with software vendors, ensuring application teams receive top-tier support.
  • Participate in the development and routine maintenance of detailed architecture documentation including system diagrams, system dependency maps, integrations, and other critical components to comply with disaster recovery, security, and operational requirements.
  • Participate in the entire application lifecycle, including implementations, upgrades, decommissioning, and data archiving.
  • Work independently, request help only when needed, and properly escale after due diligence.
  • Achieve necessary certifications and continue professional development.
