Job summary

Sunpride Foods, Inc. seeks an experienced professional to oversee the safe, reliable operation and maintenance of our industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia equipment, supporting utilities, and related infrastructure.

You will lead safety programs, train technicians, implement preventive maintenance and RCМ, and drive OEE improvements while ensuring compliance with QMS, HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• 5–10 years in industrial refrigeration or utilities, with 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong problem solving, communication, and presentation skills; ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders; knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems, PLCs, instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, compliant operation of all industrial refrigeration systems.
• Lead safe-work practices such as LOTO, PTW, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, and Working at Heights.
• Maintain ammonia leak detection, emergency ventilation, alarms, emergency shutdown systems, eyewash, and emergency equipment.
• Train and certify refrigeration technicians, operators, and contractors.
• Develop preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs to improve equipment availability.
• Drive continuous improvement to boost reliability, reduce costs, and improve OEE.
• Maintain compliance with QMS, HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards.

About the role

Responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration equipment, supporting utilities, and related infrastructure.

What you'll be doing

• Ensure the safe and compliant operation of all industrial refrigeration systems in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations
• Lead the implementation of safe work practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit-to-Work (PTW), Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, and Working at Heights
• Ensure ammonia leak detection systems, emergency ventilation, alarms, emergency shutdown systems, eyewash stations, and emergency equipment are regularly inspected and fully operational
• Verify that all refrigeration technicians, operators, and contractors are properly trained, qualified, and competent to perform their work safely
• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs to improve equipment availability
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system reliability, reduce operating costs, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
• Maintain refrigeration equipment in compliance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS), HACCP, GMP, and applicable food safety standards

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• At least 5–10 years of experience in industrial refrigeration or utilities, with 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Problem Solving Process/Instrumentation and Programmable Logic Control Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems, compressors, PLC controls, instrumentation, and utility equipment.
