Job summary

State Street is seeking an experienced finance professional in Manila to provide end-to-end support for the preparation of financial statements for investment clients. The role requires coordinating with US, EMEA and APAC hours, managing multiple client relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of statements under GAAP/regulatory standards.

You will review private equity and hedge fund statements, optimize workflows, and mentor staff while driving process improvements and effective risk

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce or economics with specialization in Business, Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
  • CA/CPA/ACCA or similar professional qualifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP/ IFRS etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical review of private equity and hedge fund financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage the production of interim/annual financial statements and daily workflow for multiple client relationships; allocate resources to service clients.
  • Ensure controls/checklists and procedures are adhered to; make recommendations for improvement.
  • Proactively manage risk at the business level; be accountable for all steps of the production chain and suggest process improvements.
  • Coordinate/use automation (FundSuite, Macros) and recommend system enhancements.
  • Coordinate/Lead research and resolution of accounting issues, auditor or client comments.
  • Participate/Lead in resolution of client issues.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to staff and deliver performance reviews on time.
  • Make recommendations on hiring, discipline, promotions, and termination decisions.
  • Assist with coordination between departments and offshore partners.
  • Draft and update task lists for offshoring partners; act as primary contact for questions.
  • Perform other duties to meet client and department goals.

The purpose of the job is to provide end-to-end support to investment company clients for timely completion of preparation of financial statements within stringent deadlines for audit / client review.

Selected candidates will be required to work at shifts which allow reasonable overlap with US, EMEA and APAC hours and allow for training, on the job practice, feedback etc.

What you will be responsible for:

As an Officer you will:

  • Perform technical review of private equity and hedge fund financial statements in accordance with relevant GAAP and regulatory requirements.

  • Comprehend the scope of services offered to clients and reviews with the team; plan, schedule, and manage the production of interim / annual financial statements and daily workflow for multiple client relationships including allocation of clients and resources to service those clients; demonstrate technical expertise; ensure team meets all client deliverables and manages relationships of assigned clients.

  • Ensure all controls/checklists and procedures are adhered to as well as make recommendations for improvement

  • Proactively manage risk at the business level; feel fully accountable for all steps of the production chain and make recommendations for process improvements

  • Ensure effective use of automation (FundSuite, Macros, etc.) and make recommendations for current system enhancements

  • Coordinate/Lead the research and resolution of any accounting issue, auditor or client comments

  • Participate/Lead in the resolution of client issues

  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to staff and be responsible for completing and delivering performance reviews on time

  • Make effective recommendations to hire, discipline, control work, determine promotions, and terminate employment

  • Assist with coordination of activities between multiple departments within the organization, including our global offshoring partners

  • Draft and update task lists for offshoring partners, ensures all supporting documentation is available to them and acts as primary contact to answer their questions and issues

  • Perform other duties as required in order to meet client and department deliverables/goals

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce / economics with a specialization in Business, Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience preferred.

  • CA / CPA / ACCA or similar professional qualifications preferred

  • Knowledge of US GAAP/ IFRS etc.

Additional requirements:

  • Demonstrates strong technology skills, as well as problem solving and analytical skills

  • Demonstrates an ability to be a leader within their team, as well as being a leader amongst your peers

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, which include excellent time management skills

  • 10+ years to 12+ years of experience in related Mutual Fund/Hedge fund Financial Reporting /accounting or finance field preferred, including previous experience in managing staff

  • Knowledge of Hedge and Private Equity Fund structures, designs & hierarchies, standalone funds, master-feeder funds, and the role of each entity in the fund structure
