Job summary

East West Banking Corporation (EastWest) is seeking an AI Governance Head in Taguig to lead the design and execution of a bank-wide AI governance framework covering RPA, ML, and LLMs. The role ensures safe, ethical, explainable, and compliant AI use in line with BSP regulations.

You will collaborate with Risk, Compliance, IT, Data, Cybersecurity, Legal, and Procurement to drive governance practices, training, and playbooks, enabling responsible AI adoption in a large, growing team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in technology, data, risk management or related field.
• Certifications in risk management, compliance, data privacy, cybersecurity or AI ethics are a plus.
• Extensive banking, risk management, IT governance or data governance experience with AI governance exposure.
• Strong knowledge of AI technologies (RPA, ML, LLMs) and associated risks and controls.
• Experience engaging regulators and senior leaders on governance and risk matters.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the bank's AI governance framework for RPA, ML, LLMs and third-party AI solutions.
• Establish AI risk assessment and mitigation frameworks addressing model risk, bias, privacy, cybersecurity, and third-party risks.
• Oversee AI lifecycle governance from intake to deployment, validation and post-implementation monitoring.
• Define standards for model documentation, testing, explainability, human oversight, and control mechanisms.
• Build AI governance capabilities across the organization via training, playbooks, templates, and governance processes.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, IT, Data, Cybersecurity, Legal, Procurement and business units to ensure regulatory compliance and responsible AI adoption.

In this role you will lead the design and execution of the Bank's end-to-end AI governance framework, covering RPA, machine learning, LLMs, and other AI technologies across their full lifecycle, from ideation and deployment to ongoing monitoring. You will ensure the safe, ethical, explainable, secure, and compliant use of AI in line with BSP regulations, data privacy and model risk standards, while enabling responsible and scalable adoption across the organization.

What the role will entail

• Develop and maintain the Bank's AI governance framework, policies, standards, and controls covering RPA, machine learning, LLMs, and third-party AI solutions.

• Establish AI risk assessment and mitigation frameworks addressing model risk, bias, explainability, data privacy, cybersecurity, operational, and third-party risks.

• Oversee AI lifecycle governance from use-case intake and risk classification through validation, deployment approval, and post-implementation monitoring.

• Define standards for model documentation, testing, explainability, human oversight, and control mechanisms to ensure responsible AI deployment.

• Build AI governance capabilities across the organization through training, playbooks, templates, and standardized governance processes.

• Partner with Risk, Compliance, IT, Data, Cybersecurity, Legal, Procurement, and business stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance, manage AI-related third-party risks, and support responsible AI adoption.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in technology, data, risk management, or a related field; an advanced degree is an advantage.

• Professional certifications in risk management, compliance, data privacy, cybersecurity, or AI ethics are a plus.

• Extensive experience in banking, risk management, IT governance, data governance, model risk management, or related disciplines, with exposure to AI/ML governance preferred.

• Strong understanding of AI technologies, including RPA, machine learning, and large language models, with the ability to assess associated risks and control frameworks.

• Deep knowledge of BSP regulations, the Data Privacy Act, outsourcing requirements, and model risk management principles.

• Proven track record of engaging with regulators, auditors, senior leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders on governance and risk matters.
