Job Summary
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, supervising accounting staff, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting management with financial analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting Operations
- Supervise daily accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records.
2. Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
- Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS and local regulatory requirements.
3. Team Supervision
- Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff.
- Assign tasks and monitor team performance.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
4. Internal Controls & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal control policies and procedures.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory requirements
5. Systems & Process Improvement
- Maintain and improve accounting systems and processes.
- Assist in ERP or accounting system implementations and upgrades.
- Develop and document accounting procedures.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred.
Experience
- 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred
- 2+ years in a supervisory role in Accounting Firm
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software/ERP systems
