We areseeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller with strong hands-on bookkeepingand month-end closeexperience, prior experience in a CPA firm environment, and a solid understanding of accounting for construction,professional services businesses, and manufacturing. This role is ideal for someone who can manage day-to-day accounting operations while also supporting higher-level financial reporting, job costing, work-in-process analysis, time and billing workflows, and process improvement.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and will bring both technical accounting knowledge and practical, roll-up-your-sleeves experience.
Oversee and support daily accounting operations,potentiallyincluding accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections,credit card andbank reconciliations,reconciliationsof payroll-related accounts including 401(k), FSA, and similar accounts, payroll support, and general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
Prepare, review, and maintainaccuratefinancial statements, management reports,reporting packages,and supporting schedules on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis;participatein the creation and implementation of new reporting packages to improve visibility and leadership decision-making.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timelyandaccuratereporting.
Understanding ofinventory and how it flows through the GL and how to reconcile inventory
Maintain strong bookkeeping practices and ensure that transactions are properly recorded, classified, reconciled, and supported.
Support construction accounting activities, including job costing, project cost tracking, WIP schedules, revenue recognition, change orders, cost-to-complete analysis, and project profitability reporting.
Support professional services accounting workflows, including time entry, project billing, utilizationreporting, labor cost allocation, and client invoicing.
Experience with construction billing practices, including schedule of values and AIA billings.
Assistwithpreparingbudgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and financial analysis, as directed by the CFO to support decision- making.
Develop, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and workflow efficiencies.
Assistwith standardizing accounting and reporting processes across the Company, including the development of process documents, template workpapers, standardized calculations, and preparation of reporting packages.
Support sales tax, payroll tax, 1099 reporting
Assistwith accounting system improvements, reporting enhancements, and integrations between accounting, project management, payroll, timekeeping, and billing platforms.
Maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism in all financial matters.
As growth is experiencedpotential to mentornew staffand delegate and train tasks as they arebeing transitioned.
Understanding ofproperly applying cash payments and receipts forclients records, and high scrutiny of ensuring that client records are correct.
Experience implementing new software integrations and ensuring they are properly recording transactions.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
Prior experience working in a CPA firm or public accounting environment, either in audit or CASstrongly preferred.
Strong bookkeeping foundation with experience handling transactional accounting as well as month-end close and financial reporting.
Reconciliation of credit card data, continuous process improvementand automation.
Experience in construction accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, project billing, cost tracking, and project profitability analysis.
Experience with professional services accounting, including time entry, time-based billing, labor allocation, utilizationreporting, and client/project profitability.
Strong understanding of GAAP-based accounting, accruals, reconciliations, financial statements, and internal controls.
Ability to analyze financial information, identifyissues, explain variances, and recommend practical solutions.
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting systems, reporting tools, and operational platforms.
Willingness to learn and master new tasks such as Work in progress schedule
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong communicationskills
High attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
Experience with construction, project-based, or job-cost accounting software.
Strong experience with Quickbooksand understanding how tomaintainother integratedsoftwares
Experience with systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Procore, Bill.com, payroll platforms, and other software integrations.
Experience preparing or supporting WIP schedules, AIA-style billing, progress billing, or time-and-material billing.
