Job description

The Accounting Operations Associate is responsible for managing cash advances, processing payments, and ensuring accurate billing and financial records related to terminal ports, shipping lines, and other parties involved in the release of shipments. This role requires attention to detail, a strong understanding of all charges and expenses, and coordination with third-party providers. The position supports both operational and financial functions to enhance efficiency, control costs, and maintain regulatory compliance.

Job Description:

• Handle and monitor all cash advances, including both receipted and unreceipted expenses.
• Record and update daily lodging reports for cash advance tracking and settlements.
• Maintain and regularly update the tariff for company-wide reference.
• Assist employees with inquiries related to tariffs, billing, and cash advances.
• Process payments for ATI (Asian Terminals Inc.) and ICTSI (International Container Terminal Services, Inc.)
• Apply accounting principles to review and analyze billing documents before processing.
• Compute and verify storage charges, stripping charges, and arrastre/wharfage (A/W) charges.
• Check liquidations and transmit verified reports to the Accounting Department.
• Process refund requests from ATI and ICTSI regarding billing concerns, documentation, or disputes.
• Monitor containerized shipments for gate pass issuance and related billing matters.
• Assess and validate storage, demurrage, detention, and other logistics-related charges.
• Record and document all cash advance requests and liquidations in a timely and accurate manner.
• Identify and recommend improvements in accounting processes to boost efficiency and reduce operational costs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in accounting operations or logistics-related finance roles.

Skill Set:

• Knowledge of logistics and port-related charges (e.g., storage, A/W, demurrage).
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
