Job Description
Job Title: Accounting Assistant (Lending & Financial Services)
The Accounting Assistant will support the Finance Department in managing the day-to-day fiscal operations of our lending portfolio. You will be responsible for processing loan disbursements, tracking repayments, reconciling accounts, and ensuring all data is accurately captured in our accounting and loan management software.
Key Responsibilities
- Loan Portfolio Accounting: Process daily loan fundings and ensure accurate recording of principal, interest, and fees.
- Accounts Receivable: Monitor incoming borrower payments, apply them to the correct accounts, and manage collections for past-due balances.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of bank statements against the general ledger and loan management system.
- Software Management: Maintain clean data entry within [Insert Software Name, e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or NetSuite] and the Loan Servicing Software.
- Escrow & Taxes: (If applicable) Assist in the management of property tax and insurance escrow accounts for mortgage-related products.
- Reporting: Assist in preparing weekly cash flow reports and monthly financial statements for management review.
- Compliance: Ensure all financial records adhere to industry regulations and internal audit standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in accounting (experience in banking, fintech, or lending is a major plus).
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
- Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero).
- Familiarity with Loan Management Systems (LMS) is preferred.
- Attention to Detail: High accuracy in data entry, as small errors in interest rates or balances can have significant impacts
