Job summary

G2 Ocean, a global ship operator, is seeking an Accountant to join the Finance and Accounting team in Manila. You will conduct daily finance operations and period-end reporting under Gearbulk's Internal Control System, ensuring accurate registrations, timely closing, and compliance with policies.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's in Accounting, four years of relevant experience, strong Excel and ERP skills (Dynamics 365), and excellent English communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide backup to team members during absences or transitions.
• Maintain and update work instructions and process documentation.
• Collaborate with Finance & Accounting teams across Gearbulk and G2 Ocean.

The accountant is a member of the Finance and Accounting team and has a functional reporting line to Accounts Supervisor / Process Owner. Responsible for conducting accounting and period end reporting tasks according to Gearbulk Internal Control System for Finance and Accounting department.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily finance and accounting operations and period-end activities in accordance with Gearbulk's Internal Control System and established procedures.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality delivery of finance and accounting activities in line with reporting deadlines.
• Support compliance with Gearbulk's Internal Control System and finance policies.
• Provide backup support to other Finance & Accounting team members during absences or transition periods.
• Assist in maintaining and updating work instructions, process documentation, and operating guidelines.
• Identify opportunities to improve work processes and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the achievement of departmental objectives and other tasks assigned by the line manager.
• Collaborate effectively with Finance and Accounting colleagues across Gearbulk and G2 Ocean to ensure efficient and consistent financial operations.

Responsible for the invoice registration process.

• Scanning and registration of invoices.
• Verify correct registration and accounting of invoices

Responsible for the invoice workflow process

• Sending invoices to the workflow approval system
• Monitor invoices in the workflow approval system
• Updating of the invoice workflow process

Responsible for maintaining and updating the supplier register in the accounting system

• Address and ensure correct bank set-up for payment
• Reconcile vendor monthly Statements and Related Transactions
• Attend to Vendor Enquiries, Payment status, etc.
• Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
• Assist in Payment Run (Building of payment batches)
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare bank reconciliation reports and investigate reconciling items.

Other Responsibilities

• Support internal and external audit requirements.
• Provide ad hoc accounting and finance support as required.

Knowledge and Skill requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and is familiar with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365) and accounting software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines, particularly during month-end and reporting periods.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
