Job summary

Interactive Multi-Purpose Cooperative is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant for a full-time role in Newport City, Pasay City, Metro Manila. You will manage accounts, record transactions, reconcile statements and ensure GAAP compliance to safeguard financial integrity.

You’ll handle payroll, AP/AR, monthly closings, and assist in preparing financial statements while maintaining secure records and collaborating with internal teams for informed business decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred
• Experience as an Accountant or similar role
• Knowledge of GAAP and accounting standards
• Strong Excel and MS Office skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join the accounting team at Interactive Multi-Purpose Cooperative. This is a full-time position based in Newport City, Pasay City, Metro Manila. As an Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organisation by managing accounts, recording transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position is essential to supporting the cooperative's financial operations and contributing to informed business decision-making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Recording and posting financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payments, in the accounting system
• Reconciling bank statements and accounts to ensure accuracy and identifying discrepancies
• Preparing and maintaining general ledger accounts and trial balances
• Assisting in the preparation of financial statements, reports and reconciliations
• Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Managing payroll records and ensuring timely and accurate salary processing
• Supporting tax compliance activities and maintaining tax-related documentation
• Conducting periodic audits of financial records to identify errors and ensure accuracy
• Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Maintaining organised and secure records of all financial documents and transactions
• Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders on financial matters as required

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as an Accountant, Accounts Officer or in a similar accounting role
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting best practices
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with keen attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate and organised financial records
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Integrity, reliability and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Relevant professional certifications (such as CPA or equivalent) are preferred
• Familiarity with cooperative accounting practices or non-profit accounting is advantageous
