Atlas Precast is seeking an experienced Accountant to lead our growing team.
The Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of month-end accounting, financial reporting and compliance obligations for Atlas Precast. The role prepares cashflow forecasts, journal entries, reconciliations and statutory returns (including BAS, FBT and tax submissions), and leads the project close-out process with Project Managers to report on project profitability. The Accountant also provides backup support across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, mentors the Accounts Officer, and works closely with the Senior Accountant to support statutory reporting, internal controls and the annual audit, acting as a key link between the finance function, project teams and external stakeholders such as auditors and the Australian Taxation Office.

What you bring:
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting, journals and reconciliations.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting standards and statutory obligations, including GST, PAYG, FBT and superannuation.
- Proficient in accounting/ERP systems, with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies.
- Well organised, with the ability to manage competing deadlines across monthly, quarterly and annual reporting cycles.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders such as Project Managers.

Highly Desirable Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- CA or CPA qualified.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar Accountant or Assistant Accountant role.
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, precast concrete or another project-based environment highly regarded.
- Experience preparing BAS, FBT returns and company tax submissions.
- Experience with month-end processes, including journals, accruals, provisions and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Experience with ERP and accounting systems.
- Experience providing backup support across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions considered an advantage.
- Experience supporting statutory reporting, internal controls or annual audit processes.

What your day looks like:
Month-End & Accounting Support
- Prepare a weekly cashflow forecast covering the next six weeks.
- Perform monthly stock adjustments and post materials usage in the system.
- Perform monthly labour reallocations to projects.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations.
- Create project codes in the system as requested by Project Managers.
- Prepare journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, provisions and correcting journals.
- Prepare monthly credit card reconciliations.
- Lead the project close-out meeting with the Project Manager to provide project profitability.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain registers including Prepayments, WIP and other schedules.
- Prepare monthly BAS, annual FBT returns and company tax submissions.
- Perform monthly intercompany reconciliations with other business units.
- Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures.
- Maintain the bank guarantee register.
- Undertake other ad hoc tasks as required.
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Provide backup support to the Accounts Payable Officer.
- Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Match purchase orders, invoices and delivery documentation.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare payment schedules for approval.
- Process employee reimbursements and credit card reconciliations.
- Ensure expenses are correctly coded to GL accounts and project codes.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement and help maintain up-to date policies and procedures.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Generate and issue customer invoices, including project claims and other AR invoices.
- Investigate and resolve customer account discrepancies.
- Liaise with Project Managers to address customer credit balances.
- Monitor AR ageing and work with the Credit Controller to follow up on overdue customer payments.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with GST, PAYG, superannuation and payroll tax obligations.
- Maintain and review internal controls over financial processes.
- Support the annual external audit process.
- Support the Senior Accountant with statutory reporting and ATO correspondence.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to the Accounts Officer.
