Qualifications

• Minimum 15 months of experience as 2nd Engineer.
• With or without valid US visa.
• Holding valid documents.
• Experience with ME, MC and WARTSILA RT FLEX engines.
• Onboard bonus may apply.

Responsibilities

• Main propulsion maintenance and operation of the main engine and related systems.
• Plans and assigns daily work schedules for engine room staff.
• Maintenance of lifeboats, emergency gensets, and fire pumps to ensure readiness.
• Ensure MARPOL compliance and treatment of oily water and sewage.
• Stand engine room watches at 04:00–08:00 and 16:00–20:00.
• Track engine parts usage and notify Chief Engineer for supplies.

Job Information

Job Description

• Main Propulsion: Directly responsible for the maintenance and operation of the main engine and its associated systems (fuel, lubrication, cooling).


• Personnel Management: Plans and assigns daily work schedules for the 3rd and 4th Engineers, Motormen, and Oilers. They ensure all engine room staff follow safety protocols.


• Emergency Equipment: Often specifically tasked with the maintenance of lifeboats, emergency generators, and fire pumps to ensure they are ready for immediate use.


• Safety & Environment: Ensures the engine room stays clean and compliant with MARPOL (pollution prevention). They supervise the treatment of oily water and sewage.


• Watchkeeping: Typically stands the 04:00–08:00 and 16:00–20:00 engine room watches, monitoring machinery performance and responding to alarms.


• Spare Parts & Inventory: Tracks the usage of engine parts and tools, notifying the Chief Engineer when supplies need to be ordered for upcoming repairs.

Skills and Qualifications:
