Responsibilities

• Maintain all machinery and efficient running of the engine.
• Supervise Engine Room operations and crew.
• Perform daily checks of running machinery.
• Primary assistant during bunkering operations as described in Oil Transfer Instructions.
• Implements daily job distributions among Engine Personnel.
• Supervises disposal of solid waste and oil sludge in incinerator (if available).
• Checks operation and maintenance of Electrical Plant.
• Complies with SOLAS, ISPS Code and SMS Manual.
• Manages engine room inventory and pollution prevention equipment.

Role Summary

The Second Engineer is responsible for maintaining all machinery and the efficient running of the engine from operation. Maintain Engineering Officer of the watch, in sea and port.

Responsibilities

• In charge of Operational Engineer and Crew of Engine Room.
• Performs daily checks of all running machinery and the general condition of the Engine Room.
• Carry out repairs according to the Planned Maintenance System, with approval from the Chief Engineer.
• Primary Assistant during bunkering operations as described in the Oil Transfer Instructions.
• Implements the daily job distributions among Engine Personnel.
• Supervises the disposal of solid waste and oil sludge in the incinerator (if available).
• Responsible for the daily check of all operating temperature auto-control valves and their pneumatic controller function and settings.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of lube oil strainers of the main engine at intervals specified in Planned Maintenance System.
• Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of primary and auxiliary engine lube-oil filters.
• Responsible for cleaning of tank tops, bilges, etc. to prevent fire hazards.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of Main Engine Fuel Injector Nozzles
• Checks the operation and handles the maintenance of the entire Electrical Plant.
• To comply with SOLAS, ISPS Code, and SMS Manual.
• In-charge of engine room inventory.
• Person in charge of Pollution Prevention Equipment Maintenance like OWS, Sewage Plan, and Incinerator.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

• Must have oil & chemical tanker experience.
• With complete & valid tanker trainings Certificates.
• With valid SIRB & D-COC without exemption on tanker vessels.
• With Valid Marina ID/License for officer.
