Job summary

Gender in Oman seeks a seasoned Instrument Maintenance Lead for the OQ8 site under Head Maintenance. You will lead design maintenance services for instruments, supervise staff and external contractors, and ensure uptime and cost-effective performance of DCS/PLC, ESD, F&G, and field instrument systems.

You will implement preventive maintenance plans, manage spare parts, support plant shutdowns, participate in MOC reviews, and maintain instrument data and as-built documentation in SAP CMMS,

Qualifications

• Degree in Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in instrument maintenance.
• 5+ years in a team-leader role (Oil & Gas / Refinery preferred).

Responsibilities

• Ensure instrument availability: analyzers, controls, UPS/BC, and communications systems.
• Lead maintenance of DCS, PLC, ESD, and Fire & Gas devices.

Job description

Leads and coordinates, the Instrument Maintenance Works and the designated team for the assigned location at OQ8 under Head Maintenance scope as, as Technical Service provider of maintenance and execution of minor projects, modifications in accordance with the technical standards to maintain the assets through: (1) Leading the design Maintenance instrument services on planned / unplanned maintenance works utilizing best practice. (2) Coordination and supervision of assets, products, and maintenance work in the designated area, (3) Implement plans and coordinate instrument maintenance works (4) Lead the designated staff (team) and external contractors in performing instrument maintenance services on planned / un-planned maintenance (CM, PM & TA) activities ; in order to ensure plant equipment availability, reliability & optimization of cost/resources while facilitating smooth operations of the plant to meet operational targets.

The position will act in accordance with the OQ8 s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Oman s government & other legal justification s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Accountable for the availability of Instrumentations, Analyzers and Controls systems, UPS/BC, and communication system of the area.
• Oversee maintenance of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems, and Fire & Gas (F&G) detection devices.
• Interface and integration with rotating equipment such as pumps and turbines.
• Experience with CCC (Compressor Control Corporation) systems.
• Process safety knowledge and application.
• Monitor spare parts inventory, verify technical specifications for replacements, and manage vendor/contractor service
• Troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintenance of field instrumentation systems
• Ensure application of best work practices in the execution of Instrumentations maintenance jobs.
• Responsible for Instrumentations side of project implementation in OQ8 facilities.
• Implements the Preventive Maintenance (PM) plan within his section and execution along with work backlogs. Maintaining a healthy, low volume of outstanding corrective maintenance work orders.
• Prepares procurement plan for his section.
• Responsible for preparing the LLF of instruments and their implementations
• Participate in Management of Change (MOC) committee review meetings.
• Ensure Instrument equipment maintenance history & reports are updated in SAP (CMMS)
• Identify the critical issues, repetitive failure of Instrument equipment, done and the RCA Recommendations implemented for the area
• Monitors staff attendance, attitude and implements discipline within the section.
• Prepare annual leave plans
• Directs, supervises, and controls all work for instrument maintenance and calibration.
• Receives and analyses periodic reports on instruments maintenance and scheduled turnarounds and determines the best course of action for increasing the Section s efficiency.
• Provides full technical & manpower support during plants shutdown.
• Determines long-term instrument maintenance policy and oversees detailed planning of maintenance activities and programs.
• Reviews policies of warehouse materials/spare parts and determines the strategy of their handling and procurement and ensures availability.
• Coordinates efforts within the Section to develop guidelines, specifications, best practices, and procedures for maintenance of pressure, level, flow, temperature, vibration, and pH instruments.
• Maintains technical expertise in functional areas of process instrumentation.
• Carries out the technical evaluation of bids and generates the evaluation report.
• Develops IDP of Omanis within the section, prepares training programs, and monitors their implementation.
• Zero Lost Time Incidents (LTIs) and full compliance with safety audits.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Minimum Qualifications for this position is Degree in Instrumentation Engineering or similar
• Min. exp 10 Years. 5+ years of experience in Instrument Equipment Maintenance Services inclusive of 4 years of relevant experience in Team Leader
• Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)
• Minimum 10 years of which 5+ years of experience in Instrument Equipment Maintenance Services inclusive of 4 years of relevant experience in Team Leader (Oil & Gas / Petrochemical or Refinery Plant experience preferred).
• Knowledge of maintenance processes for the following refinery operations:
• Heavy Oil Complex Operation (CDU, VDU, SGP, LTU, KTU, DCU, and UGP)
• Hydro Processing Complex (HCU/ARU/SRU/SWS/DHT/HPU/PSA)
• Sulfur/Utilities Complex Operations (SRU, TGTU, ARU, CRU, SSW, CSW, BFW, Steam Generation, Air, N2, CWT, WWTP)
• Offsite/Logistics Complex Operations (Crude Receiving Terminal, Refinery Tankage, product Dispatch, Coke and Sulfur Handling, Flare, Buildings)
• Knowledge of instrument control loops.
• Familiar with Systems, Applications, and Products in data processing (SAP).
• Experience in Local control station/ Plant interface bus and DCS.
• Good knowledge of modern maintenance technologies & maintenance Planning and execution of Instrumentation Equipment s, Analysers, Calibrations, control systems, ESDs
• Experience and knowledge in project planning, cost control, contract development, installation, troubleshooting, and start-up.
• Sound judgment in technical matters with good skills in engineering field materials specifications and international standards.
• Good experience in handling Maintenance Contracts and shutdown-related jobs.
