Job summary

Oman Refinery is seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to design, analyze, implement, and maintain control systems across the site. The role focuses on ensuring the availability of ESD, DCS, and PLC-based loops, while leading troubleshooting and maintaining control system assets in support of new automation projects and process safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronics or instrumentation engineering or similar.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in control systems maintenance in refinery/petrochemical environments.
• Knowledge of refinery processes and plant equipment; experience with safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage and ensure availability of ESD, DCS, and PLC-based control loops; promote process safety initiatives.
• Develop solutions to maintenance and quality problems of control systems in Suhar plants (SR2).
• Support on new automation projects.
• Interact with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, Environmental personnel and contractors in designated areas.
• Provide professional technical guidance and support to the team.
• Identify improvement opportunities and assess proposals; guide young engineers in control system matters.
• Ensure assets and equipment are available, minimize downtime, and support gross margin profitability.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications for this position is a bachelor s degree in electrical / Electronic or Instrumentation Engineering or similar.
• Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) | Arabic - Native (desirable)
• 8+ years of relevant experienceRelevant experience in similar role Control System in refinery & petrochemical plants maintenance or proven merit on the required competency.
• Relevant experience in maintenance role within the Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical industry, preferably with experience in the area/assets associated with this position.
• Knowledge of the refinery process and plant equipment.
• Experience in Developing/reviewing maintenance work instructionSound judgment in technical matters with good skills in engineering field.
• Proven experience with Personal Safety Management.
• Good knowledge of HSE / SCE QA/QC, equipment & plans/ standardsSkill either in Yokogawa, Honeywell, or Schneider DCS and ESD is required.
• Skill either in Siemens, Triconex or Allen Bradley PLC is required.
• Skill in machine monitoring systems such as Bently Nevada or Emerson CSI
• Knowledgeable on machine protection systems such as Woodward, and CCC.
• Sound understanding of IEC62443 specifically focusing on maintenance of the OT equipment s.
• Experience in bid evaluation and knowledge of contracts management & spare parts optimization.
