Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
To lead the Operational Excellence function by driving process improvements and performing detailed project evaluations. The role ensures operational efficiency by reconciling budgeted versus actual resource consumption and coordinating strategic manpower and financial planning to meet company objectives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Project Evaluation & Performance
- Lead detailed project detail evaluations with relevant stakeholders, focusing on Budgeted vs. Actual performance analysis.
- Monitor and analyze the consumption of man-hours and consumables to identify variances and waste.
- Evaluate maneuvering and logistical efficiencies within the shipyard to improve vessel turnaround times.
Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships across the Production Division to ensure alignment on excellence standards and process changes.
- Facilitate cross-departmental coordination to resolve operational bottlenecks and improve transparency.
- Address resistance to change through structured communication and engagement with all relevant stakeholders.
Finance Coordination & Analysis
- Coordinate directly with the Finance Department regarding budget preparation and detailed financial analysis.
- Provide data-driven insights to support the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reporting and operational cost control.
- Ensure all excellence initiatives are aligned with the shipyard’s financial targets and profitability goals
Manpower Planning & HR Coordination
- Coordinate with the Human Resources (HR) department to define and manage manpower planning requirements.
- Analyze labor productivity trends to forecast future staffing needs and technical skill requirements for upcoming projects.
Operational Excellence Activities
- Lead structured process improvement initiatives across Production Control and related departments.
- Identify non-working or inefficient processes and conduct root cause analysis to implement permanent corrective actions.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline across the yard.
- Develop and maintain operational KPIs and performance dashboards to provide management with real-time visibility.
Cost Control & Savings
- Monitor cost-related performance metrics to ensure adherence to departmental budgets.
- Initiate, lead, and track cost-saving initiatives across departments, ensuring sustainable results.
- Ensure cost-control measures do not compromise safety or quality standards within the yard operations.
Audits, Documentation & Systems
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring all excellence-related records and evidence are audit-ready.
- Maintain proper documentation, version control, and record retention for all departmental processes.
- Support the development, review, and continuous improvement of departmental manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Compliance & Documentation
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring all excellence records and documentation are accurate and up to date.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant Production Control policies, procedures, and systems.
Other Tasks
- Perform any other tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Line Manager in support of Production Control objectives.
- Adhere to all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements.
- Ensure that performance reporting and analysis do not compromise safety, quality, or compliance standards.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Operations Management, or equivalent.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in shipyard operations, production control, or operational excellence.
- Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
Job-Specific Knowledge & Skills:
- Advanced skills in Budget vs. Actual analysis and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of man-hour tracking, consumable management, and shipyard workflows.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with Finance and HR functions.
