A Senior ICT Engineer specializing in Active Infrastructure is responsible for the advanced design, implementation, configuration, optimization, and maintenance of active network components. This includes routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, servers, and other devices that actively process and manage data traffic. This role ensures high performance, security, and reliability of the network, providing technical leadership, strategic planning, and expert-level support for complex active infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of complex active network solutions, including routing, switching, security, and wireless technologies.
• Configure, deploy, and manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Perform system design, detailed engineering, and solution development for security systems.
• Apply value engineering principles to optimize designs and achieve material and cost savings.
• Prepare variation order (VO) estimations and conduct cost analysis for project changes.
• Develop and implement network security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect organizational assets.
• Perform advanced network troubleshooting, performance tuning, and capacity planning to ensure optimal network operation.
• Manage and maintain network monitoring and management systems to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including passive infrastructure engineers, system administrators, and application developers, to ensure seamless integration and support of IT services.
• Evaluate new network technologies and solutions, providing recommendations for strategic investments and infrastructure upgrades.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to junior network engineers.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational security policies.
• Support the design and development of advanced ICT systems, including hardware, software, and network components.
• Provide successful execution of complex engineering projects.
• Implement and enforce security measures and compliance standards to safeguard systems and data.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex active network infrastructures.
• Expert-level knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and network security principles.
• Proven experience with leading network vendors' equipment (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, HP, Fortinet).
• Strong understanding of virtualization technologies, cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and software-defined networking (SDN).
• Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills for complex network issues.
• Ability to lead projects, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and present technical information to diverse audiences.
