Job summary

SGS is seeking an experienced Senior Inspector in Oman to conduct comprehensive inspections of pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping systems, and mechanical components for project compliance. You will perform CSWIP 3.2 welding inspections and contribute to in-service assessments under API 510/653 guidelines.

The role requires a B.S. in Engineering or equivalent with 8+ years of inspection experience, and mandatory CSWIP 3.2/AWS SCWI certification.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or 18 years diploma with 8+ years inspection experience.
• AWS SCWI or CSWIP 3.2 certifications are mandatory.
• API 510 & API 653 certifications are preferred.
• Demonstrated thorough knowledge of applicable international standards.
• Demonstrated full working knowledge of quality system standards and methods.

Responsibilities

• Inspect pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping systems and mechanical components for code compliance.
• Perform welding inspections in accordance with CSWIP 3.2 standards, including visual checks.
• Inspect API 510 vessels and API 653 storage tanks during in-service tasks.
• Review fabrication, erection, and maintenance procedures against drawings and standards.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, NCRs and corrective action recommendations.
• Coordinate with project engineers, QA/QC teams and contractors to resolve issues.
• Mentor and guide junior inspectors to improve inspection quality.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, codes and best practices.

Job Description

• Conduct comprehensive inspections of pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping systems, and mechanical components to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
• Perform welding inspections in accordance with CSWIP 3.2 standards, including visual inspections, dimensional checks, and defect identification.
• Conduct in-service inspection, assessment, and certification of pressure vessels (API 510) and storage tanks (API 653).
• Review fabrication, erection, and maintenance procedures for compliance with engineering drawings and standards.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and recommendations for corrective actions.
• Coordinate with project engineers, QA/QC teams, and contractors to ensure timely and effective resolution of inspection issues.
• Mentor and guide junior inspectors to enhance inspection quality and compliance awareness.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices relevant to oil and gas mechanical inspections.

Qualifications

• B.S degree in Engineering in a respective inspection discipline with at least 10 years of experience in relevant inspection discipline. OR 18 years industrial/technical College Diploma plus a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant inspection experience.
• AWS SCWI OR CSWIP 3.2 certifications are Mandatory
• API 510 & API 653 certifications are preferred
• Demonstrated thorough knowledge of applicable international standards.
• Demonstrated full working knowledge of quality system standards and methods
