Oman Investment Authority seeks a Senior Engineer for the Workshop Cranes and Tools Room to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective management of the site workshop facilities and lifting equipment. This role provides technical leadership, oversees compliance, and drives continuous improvement across crane operations, tools room, and maintenance execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience in workshop operations, cranes maintenance, in mining, minerals processing or heavy industrial operations.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, start-up and operational ramp-up is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all workshop activities including mechanical repairs, fabrication, machining, welding and equipment refurbishment.
  • Coordinate repair priorities with Maintenance Planning, Operations and Reliability teams; monitor productivity and resource utilization.
  • Manage cranes, lifting equipment, rigging gear inspection, maintenance and compliance; review lifting plans and certifications.
  • Manage the tools room and ensure inventory accuracy, procurement and replacement of tools and consumables.
  • Provide maintenance execution support for planned and breakdown maintenance, shutdowns and major projects; support field teams with workshop services.
  • Support shutdowns and major projects with workshop services and lifting equipment readiness; coordinate contractor support during shutdowns.
  • Manage workshop contractors and service providers, monitor safety, quality and compliance; review scopes and approve reports.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs for workshop and lifting equipment performance and inventory accuracy.

Brief Posting Description

The Senior Engineer Workshop Cranes and Tools Room is responsible for the safe reliable and cost-effective management of the site maintenance workshop lifting equipment cranes rigging gear welding facilities machine shop activities and tools room operations The role ensures that all workshop services lifting equipment inspections repair activities fabrication works and tool management processes support maintenance and operational objectives while complying with company safety quality and statutory requirements The position provides technical leadership for workshop personnel crane and lifting equipment compliance specialized maintenance support services contractor coordination resource planning and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment availability operational efficiency and asset integrity throughout the operation

WORKSHOP MANAGEMENT
  • Lead and manage all workshop activities including mechanical repairs fabrication machining welding equipment refurbishment and overhaul works
  • Ensure workshop resources manpower facilities and equipment are effectively utilized to support maintenance requirements
  • Develop and implement workshop operating procedures work standards and best practices
  • Coordinate repair priorities with Maintenance Planning Operations and Reliability teams
  • Monitor workshop productivity work quality turnaround times and resource utilization
  • Ensure workshop equipment is maintained calibrated and fit for purpose
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance workshop performance and efficiency
CRANES LIFTING EQUIPMENT AND RIGGING MANAGEMENT
  • Manage inspection testing certification maintenance and compliance of all cranes hoists lifting equipment lifting accessories and rigging gear
  • Ensure all lifting equipment complies with company standards OEM requirements and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate third-party inspections load testing and certification activities
  • Maintain lifting equipment registers inspection records and certification documentation
  • Review and approve lifting plans and critical lift requirements as required
  • Investigate lifting equipment failures and implement corrective actions
  • Provide technical guidance and support for lifting operations across the site
TOOLS ROOM MANAGEMENT
  • Manage the operation of the tools room and ensure availability of specialized maintenance tools and equipment
  • Establish and maintain tool inventory management systems
  • Ensure proper control storage calibration inspection and maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Monitor tool utilization and implement measures to minimize loss and damage
  • Coordinate procurement and replacement of tools and workshop consumables
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within SAP or approved systems
MAINTENANCE EXECUTION SUPPORT
  • Provide workshop support for planned maintenance breakdown maintenance shutdowns and major projects
  • Coordinate refurbishment and repair activities for mechanical components and assemblies
  • Support field maintenance teams with technical solutions and workshop services
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed safely efficiently and according to quality standards
  • Facilitate rapid turnaround of critical repairs to minimize operational downtime
SHUTDOWN AND PROJECT SUPPORT
  • Support maintenance shutdowns and major projects through workshop services fabrication activities and lifting equipment readiness
  • Coordinate manpower tools lifting equipment and contractor support during shutdowns
  • Ensure workshop and crane resources are available to meet shutdown schedules
  • Participate in shutdown planning execution reviews and lessons learned activities
CONTRACTOR AND SERVICE PROVIDER MANAGEMENT
  • Manage workshop-related contractors and service providers
  • Monitor contractor performance safety compliance and quality of work
  • Review scopes of work quotations and technical proposals
  • Verify completed work and approve contractor service reports where applicable
  • Ensure contractor activities comply with company and site requirements
PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND REPORTING
  • Develop and maintain KPIs for workshop cranes lifting equipment and tools room performance
  • Monitor and report Workshop Productivity Equipment Repair Turnaround Time Crane and Lifting Equipment Availability Inspection and Certification Compliance Tool Utilization and Inventory Accuracy Safety Performance Maintenance Cost Performance
Job Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor s degree or Higher Diploma
Experience
  • Bachelor s degree with 10 years or Higher Diploma with 15 years of experience in workshop operations cranes maintenance in mining minerals processing or heavy industrial operations
  • Experience supporting commissioning start-up and operational ramp-up activities is desirable
Certifications
