Job summary

OCTAL (FZC) seeks a Project Field Supervisor to oversee day‑to‑day field activities in Oman’s Dhofar region. The role links contractors with the Project Manager to ensure safe, high‑quality, timely execution in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.

You will supervise field crews, monitor progress, coordinate with civil, electrical, instrumentation and process teams, and support pre‑commissioning and start‑up activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years hands-on field experience in industrial construction, maintenance and project execution.
  • Experience supervising contractors and field crews.
  • Strong knowledge of piping installation, equipment erection, steel structures, platforms, cabling, testing and commissioning.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings and vendor documents.
  • Good understanding of permit-to-work systems, HSE requirements and risk assessments.

  • HSE and Work Control: ensure safe execution and promote a strong safety culture on site.
  • Site Execution and Supervision: supervise construction activities and ensure alignment with drawings and specs.
  • Daily Monitoring and Reporting: develop daily progress reports and identify delays; escalate issues.
  • Material and Resource Management: verify material availability and proper handling/storage.
  • Documentation and Completion: prepare as-built information and support handover and close-out.

Job description

The Project Field Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision monitoring and control of all field activities during project execution The role focuses on ensuring safe high-quality and timely execution of works in accordance with approved drawings specifications and project schedules The position is primarily field-based and acts as the link between contractors and the Project Manager to ensure effective execution and issue resolution

Main responsibilities
  • HSE and Work ControlEnsure safe execution of all project activities and promote a strong safety culture at site Monitor contractor compliance with company HSE requirements PTW systems and risk assessments Participate in toolbox talks safety observations and incident investigations Ensure adequate barricading housekeeping and safe work practices are always maintained Verify that approved method statements and risk assessments are implemented in the field
  • Site Execution and SupervisionProvide continuous field supervision of all construction activities Monitor control installation of piping cabling instrumentation equipment steel structures platforms supports etc to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications Coordinate and supervise contractors manpower equipment and resources to maximize productivity Ensure proper alignment fit-up leveling and workmanship during installation Monitor lifting activities and critical jobs to ensure compliance with approved lifting plans and safety requirements Organize hydrotests pressure tests flushing mechanical completion and loop testing activities
  • Daily Monitoring and ReportingMonitor and develop daily progress reports and identify delays or constraints and communicate issues requiring management interventionEnsure work fronts are available and proactively remove execution obstacles Escalate technical material manpower or safety issues affecting progress Coordinate with Project Engineers and other disciplines to resolve site issues promptly Verify material traceability and ensure approved materials are used Identify and rectify construction deficiencies and punch points Witness equipment installation and ensure vendor recommendations are followed Coordinate field activities with civil electrical instrumentation and process teams to avoid conflicts Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams for tie‑ins isolations and plant interfaces Support pre‑commissioning commissioning and start‑up activities
  • Material and Resource ManagementVerify material availability prior to execution Monitor consumption of materials and ensure proper handling and storage with record keeping
  • Documentation and CompletionPrepare and verify red‑line markups and as‑built information generated from field changes Support preparation of dossiers and punch lists Ensure all work packages are completed and handed over properly Assist in close‑out activities and final acceptance
Key Challenges
  • Managing multiple contractors and subcontractors simultaneously
  • Maintaining safety and quality standards while achieving schedule commitments
  • Handling site constraints and unforeseen issues during execution
  • Coordination with Operations Maintenance HSE QA QC Civil Electrical Instrumentation and Process departments
  • Maintaining effective communication among all stakeholders
  • Working under shutdown and time‑critical environments
  • Managing multiple priorities and resolving field issues in real time
  • Ensuring construction quality while maintaining productivity and safety
Scope and Candidate Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands‑on field experience in Industrial construction, maintenance, and project execution.
  • Experience supervising contractors and field crews.
  • Strong knowledge of metallic piping installation, equipment erection, steel structures, platforms, cabling, loop testing, tanks, insulations, and supports.
  • Familiarity with mechanical testing, flushing, hydrotesting, alignment, and commissioning activities.
  • Working knowledge of civil, electrical, and instrumentation interfaces.
  • Good understanding of permit‑to‑work systems, HSE requirements, and risk assessments methodology.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings, equipment drawings, and vendor documents.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Additional certifications in HSE, lifting supervision, and welding QA/QC are advantageous.
