Job summary

Descon seeks a highly skilled Rigging & Heavy Lifting Professional to lead complex operations across Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Construction, and Industrial sectors in Oman. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee rigging activities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance while driving project delivery and safety culture.

With 15+ years of hands-on rigging experience and leadership of large teams, you will develop lifting plans, review procedures, and mentor rigging personnel,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or DAE in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Professional certification in Rigging Level III or an equivalent internationally recognized lifting and rigging qualification is preferred.
• 15+ years of hands-on rigging experience, especially in shutdown/turnaround environments
• Proven leadership of large rigging teams in the Oil & Gas sector
• Strong command of load charts, lifting tackles, crane capacities
• Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all rigging and heavy lifting operations to ensure safe, efficient, and successful execution of project activities.
• Develop, review, and approve lifting plans, rigging studies, method statements, lifting procedures, and associated checklists in accordance with project requirements and industry best practices.
• Ensure full compliance with HSE policies, international lifting standards, statutory regulations, and client-specific requirements at all times.
• Coordinate closely with project execution and HSE teams to ensure the safe planning and execution of critical lifting activities.
• Lead pre-lift meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety briefings to promote a strong safety culture and operational excellence.
• Maintain accurate records of daily lifting activities, rigging operations, equipment inspections, and status reports.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and on-site training to rigging personnel to enhance competency and compliance.
• Supervise and lead large teams of riggers and rigging supervisors, ensuring effective workforce utilization and adherence to project schedules.
• Identify potential lifting hazards, implement risk mitigation measures, and ensure continuous improvement in lifting and rigging practices.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders on matters related to heavy lifting and rigging operations.
• Support project execution by ensuring lifting activities are completed safely, on schedule, and within project objectives.
