Job summary

Confidential Company in Oman seeks an experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle driver to transport materials and equipment in safe, efficient operations across desert and oil & gas sites.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, secure loads, and follow JMP including journey plans and routes. The role requires English literacy, a valid Oman HGV license, and 5+ years of true HGV driving experience with a reputable firm.

Qualifications

  • Minimum school-level education with ability to read and write in English.
  • Valid Omani Heavy Duty Driving License (HGV).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience driving Heavy Goods Vehicles for a reputed company.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas industry and knowledge of Defensive Driving standards is a plus.
  • Basic vehicle mechanical knowledge to perform first-line checks and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy-duty vehicles (Crane Truck, Semi-Flat Bed, Trailer, etc.) for safe transportation of loads.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
  • Comply with Journey Management Procedures including plan approvals and trip reporting.
  • Ensure loads are secured and restrained per guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate trip sheets and promptly report incidents or delays.
  • Carry out basic maintenance and troubleshooting (tires, brakes, lights, fluid levels).
  • Follow HSE Golden Rules and report unsafe acts and hazards immediately.
  • Maintain clean vehicle interior and exterior through regular washing.
  • Coordinate with recovery teams in case of breakdowns or desert/off-road incidents.
  • Support emergency response requirements as needed.
  • Adhere to defensive driving to minimize risk in challenging terrain and high temperatures.
  • Maintain professional conduct and comply with Oil & Gas site rules.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy-duty vehicles Crane Truck Semi-Flat Bed Trailer Low-Bed Trailer Water Tanker etc for the safe transportation of materials equipment and hazardous non-hazardous loads in compliance with company and client requirements
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections ensuring roadworthiness and compliance with Client Vehicle Standards
  • Comply with Journey Management Procedures JMP including journey plan approvals speed limits designated routes and trip reporting
  • Ensure all loads are secured balanced and restrained as per Client load restraint guidelines
  • Maintain accurate trip sheets promptly reporting incidents near misses or operational delays
  • Carry out basic first-line maintenance and troubleshooting including checks on tires brakes lights and fluid levels
  • Follow HSE Golden Rules and immediately report unsafe acts unsafe conditions vehicle breakdowns or potential hazards
  • Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle interior and exterior through proper and scheduled washing
  • Demonstrate awareness of Vehicle Towing Recovery Guidelines in case of breakdowns or vehicles stuck in desert off-road conditions ensuring safe coordination with recovery teams
  • Support emergency response requirements evacuation breakdown recovery when needed
  • Strictly adhere to defensive driving techniques to minimize risks in challenging terrain desert environments and high-temperature conditions
  • Maintain professional conduct punctuality and compliance with all Oil Gas site rules and road safety standards
  • Follow the instruction of supervisor and ensure timely delivery of task assigned without industrial wastage
  • Follow the instructions of the supervisor and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks without causing industrial or operational wastage
  • Any additional responsibilities as instructed by immediate supervisor or management
Qualifications
  • Minimum school-level education with the ability to read and write in English.
  • Valid Omani Heavy Duty Driving License.
  • Minimum 5years’ experience driving Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) with a reputed company.
  • Prior experience in the Oil & Gas industry and knowledge of Defensive Driving standards will be an added advantage.
  • 5.Basic vehicle mechanical knowledge to perform first-line checks and troubleshooting.
  • Valid certificate from the Oman Logistics Association (OLA)Valid OPAL Defensive Driving Certificate.
