Job description

The primary objective of this role is to lead the airline’s technical asset management function by optimizing aircraft and engine lifecycle performance, ensuring effective management of maintenance activities, engineering contracts, and lease obligations, while supporting operational reliability, cost efficiency, and long-term business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the management of Engineering & Maintenance contracts, ensuring contractual compliance, effective contract administration, budget control, and alignment with company procurement and governance requirements.
  • Overseeing all Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) activities, including engine shop visits and ensuring timely maintenance slot availability through strategic MRO partnerships.
  • Developing and managing short and long-term aircraft and powerplant asset strategies, including shop visit planning, engine availability, lease engine requirements, end-of-lease obligations, and maintenance reserve optimization.
  • Managing the induction and redelivery of aircraft and engines, coordinating technical lease obligations, lease return planning, and stakeholder communication to ensure efficient asset transitions and cost‑effective redeliveries.
  • Optimizing aircraft and engine asset utilization by improving maintenance planning, maximizing operational availability, extending maintenance intervals where appropriate, and achieving the lowest lifecycle cost.
  • Leading the technical input for Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and supporting commercial negotiations for major maintenance and technical service agreements.
  • Managing third‑party technical support contracts, including AOG support arrangements, to ensure operational reliability and rapid recovery during disruptions.
  • Working closely with Engineering, Business Planning (Engineering Finance), and Commercial teams to provide accurate maintenance forecasts, aircraft availability plans, and technical data that support business planning, operational decision‑making, and long‑term financial forecasting.
  • Driving continuous improvement of technical asset management processes, procedures, and best practices to enhance operational efficiency, asset performance, and cost savings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, engineering, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership or consultancy role.
  • Strong knowledge of aviation regulations and standards (e.g., EASA, FAA, or equivalent).
  • EASA/Oman CAA licensed engineer.
  • Proven experience in process optimization, personnel evaluation, inventory management, and powerplant management.
  • Expertise in managing engine guarantees, warranties, and contractual agreements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management systems and other relevant tools.
